This is an LS6 clutch out of a 2001 Camaro. It includes the disc, pressure plate and flywheel. It has 18K miles on it with ~70 1/8th mile passes on it and ~7 1/4 mile passes. The disc is in excellent shape but the pp and flywheel show signs of heat. The clutch drove perfect on the street. At the track I thought it was slipping but it ended up being my stock master.

Is that the original LS1 clutch that came in the car or is it a true LS6 clutch?

It's my understanding that all 01-02 M6 LS1's came with ZO6(LS6) clutch. This the original clutch that came in the car, so I would think it is a true LS6.

LS6 Clutch only came in Z06 corvettes, its part number is 12570806

F-body's came with the Ls1 Clutch and its part number is 12581650

The hydrolics in 2001 & 2002 F-bodys are the same as in the Z06

I was just about to post that. I have a print out from constrictor98ta from years ago that has all the differences of the LS1 F-Bodies. Under 2001 and 2002 model years it states that all manual cars came with ZO6 clutches.

Also, I had parts look up a clutch for my car, 01 Camaro. It does list the part # as 12581650 BUT it has it listed for 98-02 F-Bodies. I hope I don't come of fas a jerk, just trying to clarify this.

I bought a 12570806 for my camaro and the springs on the pressure plate were wider than the ones on the pressure plate that came out of the car. I know that both clutch sets are made by valero and share the same flywheel and disk, I believe the difference lies in the poressure plate springs. Id be interested if it were the true Z06 clutch but it doesnt sound like thats the case.

Not sure how I can verify it. I'm just going off of what I always thought and always heard. And I believe the clutch is made by LUK, it says it on the pp.

I thought Valeo was the manufacture and LUK the supplier. I could be wrong. this whole clutch thing confused me for weeks. And I never got a definitive answer aside from the parts guy at fred beans and my own personal experiance. For all I know, your car has the Z06 clutch. Id be interested in another but I dont believe it is the same clutch, bnever the less, regardless, it is a great clutch, chatter free, quiet OEM operation with low mileage and well worth $75 for someone looking for a stock replacement to save them some money. If someone even wanted to make it new, Discs can be bought on Ebay brands new for $50 and the flywheel can be ground down, still making the clutch cheaper than if you bought a new one.

I agree, there really isn't a definitive answer but it is a great clutch.
