Ok, if anyone can link these symptoms together, they win a....thanks? 94 z28, 100k and change
Lets see....
Car runs great, most of the time

When it runs bad, It sucks. it misses terrible but comes back to life after a few seconds of throttle. Only temporary

Getting a check engine light once in a while, but the 94 z28 is like pulling teeth to read the codes, OBD1 USB cable is at the top of my shopping list

Failed emissions for HC, 365/118, and CO, 5.36/.65. Nox passed by half. So i assume that means EGR and cat working. But poor combustion, or super rich...which brings me to my next point.

Car runs very rich sometimes. Smells like a big block with a holley carb. Also leaves dark clouds at times under WOT. Has tons of power. "Supposedly" has an lt4 hot cam. Any way to verify? It feels like it pulls a little better than a stock lt1. Dont know for sure though

Injectors ohm out ok, all vac lines and plugs seem to be in order. All spark plug boots are attached well as far as i can feel. Have to get the car in the air to really get at them

Ive considered the Opti already...im not assuming/touching anything till i get the codes. Just after other things to look at. The car will get plugs/wires/coil and lube/filters shortly. Just need to get paid. So...anything else? help!!??11!!

Edit: Would also be terribly usefull if someone had an OBD1 ALDL cable laying around i could borrow for now

i'd get that code read before making any major decisions on replacing stuff, especially that opti, not too fun.

Do you know if it was tuned for the hot cam?

i would suggest getting the code read first. could have a cam in it and maybe a bad o2. is it always giving you this problem or only when warmed up? most obdII readers can read the obdI and 1.5

Yea if you want we can "modify" my cable to get it to read yours. I think.

yeah i think i would have to cut that bar out of the middle. it would still work fine in an odb2 plug. Let me know if you ever find it. I was just looking for someone that may have had all these issues because of one certain part that they changed...just so i could have something to look forward to at least lol

well reading the code is definitely the first thing to do. with unknown history of the car, it will be that much harder to diagnose :)

Thats the end on mine. I am pretty sure you can "adapt" a 94 reader to read the quasi OBDII of 95s, so I would assume you could work backwords...

Without having the codes there is just too many variables. It could be something as simple as a sensor up to the opti.

What software are you going to use? I perfer TTS, 20 free scans and it is very easy to use.
