It should have been done years ago, but I digress.
Unless it makes the vehicles stronger ie C5R-C6R-C6 Z06, then it should be loaded onto the failboat and sunk off the cost of Faillaland.
your right, the hours of hundreds of thousands of people watching commercial after commercial is retarded

No but since when does NASCAR help GM sell monte carlos, or anything for that matter? I agree 100% with Al, while yes it would be heartbreaking to see GM and Chrysler out of NASCAR realistically should they be wasting that money right now? Does anyone really think NASCAR helps GM sell any cars? Please. Granted they dont make much on the Vetts but at least you can assure yourself that with the Z06 and ZR1 people are buying them because of its proven performance especially on the track. When the hell was the last time you heard anyone buying a car cuz they saw it win a NASCAR race? We're not in the 60's anymore dude. Time for GM and Chrysler to face reality and get their priorities straight. Pulling out of useless things like NASCAR (not that NASCAR is useless, but them being in NASCAR) is one way of gettin their **** together. I'm GM 10000% but you cant feel bad for a company that cant use simple common sense.

You totally missed my point but ok. Al was saying unless it made the car better(ie:C5-R, C6-R etc) then it's a waste of $$$. I was merely bringing up the point that GM doesn't make much off the Corvette sales. My comment had nothing to do with NASCAR and the uneducated rednecks that follow it like religion.

GM makes a decent amount of money off the car, at least its a profit. Profit margin grows with higher end model, but considering its sales numbers, its profitbable and thats all that matters.
Nascar hasnt helped **** since the 60's.
When I was invited to go see the the CTS-V team race at Lime Rock, they took us into the CTS-V race trailer, and they talked about how they could beam the telematics and vehicle info to GMPD to give feedback on the production car. The lessones learned with the CTS-VR program translated into what we have today, for not only the V series, but for the regular cars itself. Chassis redesign for the 2nd generation CTS was a direct result of the racing program.
The current Z06 was because GM was given a choice by ALMS: Make the Corvette Race car closer to production, or make the production closer to the race car.
THATS why it got the LS7.
My hope is that whatever is learned with Camaro's entry into Grand Sport is translated into a Z28.

Not entirely true. They may not have helped with cars that are in the showroom but they have helped with R&D on parts for old iron.

Yet no one seems to see a problem with Toyota having a part in nascar too. God the world makes me angry with double standards for toyota.

lol i hate Toyota with a passion. They're boring bland and blah. I can't stand them. Except the old corollas starlets and the 90's poopras. However, Toyota is in a much better position than GM. GM can't afford NASCAR, Toyota can. Its almost like someone on section 8 and welfare trying build a 10 second car. It makes no sense.

Toyota isn't taking billions of our tax dollars...er I mean dollars that the government is magically making out of thin air.

Nope, I have no problem with Toyota burning through billions and billions in NASCAR, F1, or whatever they think they can do to make themselves look better in the eyes of teh world.
F1 was to make them look respectable in Europe
NASCAR for the USA

ehhhhh.....Toyota is running low on money. The CEO just stepped down due to his overzealious spending in America, causing Toyota to post its first LOSS in...well...a long ass time. The Toyoda familiy put in another son into the position to pull it back into profitabiliy.
As for not taking billions, Toyota is asking for 2 billion american dollars from Japan.

So there goes the theory that the Big 3 dont make cars that people want, or that the Big 3 planned poorly making only trucks and suv's...
