so over the years near me (in hamilton) theres been some robberies they actually took 3 digital cameras out of my dads truck last year. recently they've been comin around 1-2 times a week and apparently their now breakin into garages smashin windows to get in. its pissin me off that people are such scumbags. it also worries me cause im in the middle of a pricey build with alot of stuff outside. its all locked up but are garage is pretty beat. anyone have any problems with this? i cant keep all the parts in the house and im loosin sleep cuz im about 8k in and alot of that isnt in the house

just cover the rear and motor with tarps, and pile boxes and shi+ on there so they dont think of looking under it incase someone does break in

what part of the town do you live in?

i wont post about it publicly, but the hamilton pd is doing several different things in several parts of town to combat some of the recent strings of burglaries

I do CCTV installations and a definate recommendation: Put in motion detect flood lights around your garage/shed.

yeah man what have they been stealing? many theifs are dumb so they might not know the true value of a motor or a rear end...they would more less be looking for electronics or flashy things. i could be wrong though.

do you have a gun?

z28rob18
04-24-2009, 11:44 AM
a bebe gun lol they've been stealin alot of things i think a person my mom works with had things lik a table saw and power tools stolen a ton of different thing. not only my parts are in there but my dads got like well over 100k in tools. we have a flood light the problem is the wind sets it off

if i have learned anything from my crime analysis class...(dude my teacher is HOTT im suprised i learned anything in that class) criminals hate light. i mean if you keep your house lighted at all times and no real dark areas around what you want to be stolen it should deter them a little bit. also try to keep a light on in your garage and they might think someone is in there.

also try not to fall into a routine...i.e. leave the house at a certain time everyday, go out at the same time everyday. do u know when the burglaries have been taking place?

no i probably late at night but there's 6 of us at the house so there's usually someone there even in the day my dads there often. guess ill turn the flood light back on and also the one in the driveway

Flood lights are your friend. Definitely keep it on even if the wind sets it off. If you're not happy with it look for a new one.

still though..looking back at the posts, find a house with no basement foundation, a truck in the driveway, and maybe a camaro in the driveway in that general location and you've found your house with 100k in tools, a rear, and a motor in the garage...idk sorry if im coming off as a douche but i dont want to see you have your stuff stolen, ive had stuff stolen from me before and its a terrible feeling

i concur on the flood light part.

a beebee gun is still a good enough deterrent with minimal chance of going to jail for it. make sure its c02 powered though  those summa ma bitches hurt

I know how it feels...when i lived in eatontown someone broke into my car and stole ALL my tools and my radar detector. They just smashed my lock cylinder in on the pass side. Not a lot of tools but still 100$ worth and it was everything i had! Also same house had 2 of 4 stock 3rd gen z28 wheels...the gray 5 spoke ones. Who steals those? and only 2? at least take the other 2 so i dont have 2 rims to deal with

just so you guys are clear and maybe someone else can elaborate... in NJ and now this is depdending on a judges ruling... its illegal to shoot anybody outside of your actual living house.. even on your own property... unless fired upon first (hopefully its not to late)... and if they break in your house, unless they are clearly armed and you see a gun in their hand then you cant shoot them... if you dont see they are armed you are sopposed to retreat and warn them " i have a gun, i will shoot you" untill you cannot retreat no more i.e. backed into a corner... and then if they still havent left and there is no more room to go you can shoot them... thats what i was told by a few guys that have worked in law enforcement... but they break in and you see a gun in their hand you have no choice but to assume that its loaded and they are going to kill you and you can shoot them.... and remember... if you shoot them... shoot to kill because then there is only one story to tell... and no counter suit to deal with... just unload the clip into the dirtbag and say "i dont know what happen officer it happened so fast... i jsut pointed and shot untill i couldnt any more...".... this is what i go by... makes sense to me... but i mean if i seen someone robbing my garage you can damn well bet they might get a tickle of buckshot up their ass! i really hope you never have to deal with it... but i mean if there is no little kids in your house... a gun isnt a bad idea... just a shot gun or somthing... easy to use.. easy to load... very effective! good luck wish you the best!

^^^ that is what is commonly known as the "Castle Act".... Not EVERY town/city has the castle act. Meaning some towns/cities believe that your home is not your last line of defense and therefore you have no right to use deadly force.

IMO build a dam fence around your property and buy a pitbul.
