Yup I always thought if it was on your property it didn't matter but i guess i was wrong. Got an ahole neighbor obviously. the thing sat in the street with no plates for a few days and i got a notice about that and then one for it being in the driveway..

Well, yeah, if you leave it on the street, I wouldn't be surprised if it got towed. But, as soon as it gets more'n a couple feet from the sidewalk, I consider that my property.

Wrong. Care to read the first sentence in the original post? The car in street has nothing to do with the letter.

Yea they better have more than a wrecker because thats when shot guns come out.
FOOK THAT MESS they cant simply tow your **** in the middle of the night with out warning you when its on your property.
& If their so grimey that they do it with no notice because its IN THE STREET in front of the $400,000 home you pay for I would raise hell at every single town meeting.

It took 6 months before I got a notice for my car being in the driveway...it wasnt until I let the registration lapse...I renewed it the day I got the violation but still had to move it.

I did have it in the street for a little and got a sticker warning me about that but that has nothing to do with the letter i got. I live on a quiet street. I know that shouldn't matter but i got it out of the street. But having it in my driveway without plates shouldnt matter. It's my driveway.. but whatever. Dickhead neighbors ftl.

P.s. Firebirds on the road as of yesterday Jeremy. Cruise anytime soon?

Something along these lines has happened to me when I had my 86 TA in my driveway without plates, although it happened in a "nicer" way. I didn't receive a letter. Long story short, a cop that I knew was at my house for different reason and noticed my TA didnt have plates. I was working on it at that time. He told me to put a tarp over the car, or just the front end (since it was backed in my driveway) so someone can't complain about me not having a car without plates on my property...

Basically, some towns have ordinances to keep unregistered cars off property. It falls into the same category as, for instance, an ordinance in my town states that you have to have your grass trimmed below 12 inches or else the town will send in a private landscaper to cut it, then slap you up with a fine. Both ordinances is just merely to keep your property looking presentable and not looking like a junkyard.

The only way you can get away with having an non plated car on your property is if its for sale or garaged. Just put a tarp over it if you dont have plates.

you could anoy your neghbors like my old one did. someone called the cops on them for something dumb so he cut his lawn at 4am. but its not right for the ones who didnt do it.

TheBandit
04-26-2009, 10:19 AM
Yeah same thing Tim suggested. but it's registered now so it wont be a problem. I can understand them wanting the houses to look presentable, but one car in the driveway shouldn't be something you should get fined for imo. I can see if you had a yard full of junkers, but that wasn't the case.

Edit - Lol no mowing the lawn at 4am. Just spinning the tires in the street

Why not just put a for sale sign with a ridiculous price that nobody will pay? That way you can keep it in the driveway and no one can say anything. lol

#1 The piece of paper he received was a warning
#2 Police tows happen in the middle of the day, they are the law so there is no need for some big cloak and dagger routine
#3 Pull a gun on a tow operator and don't be surprised if you see one pointing back.

I have had plenty of parted, unregistered, broken down cars in my driveway. Never had anything said to me about it. Guess I have just been lucky or it is just another advantage of having grown up with so many of the cops in my town :)

Yeah you would think since its such a small street and everyone knows everyone i'd be fine. But the the old woman who lives nextdoor has nothing better to do. The people across the street were cutting down a tree and she had the code inspector their and they got slapped with a $500 fine. She's got nothing better to do, old bastard.

Not that I'd resort to violence, but I do have a scanner. If I hear a policeman responding to a call regarding my car in the driveway, I just back it into the garage. :)

Ok let's go over this again.

I had car parked IN DRIVEWAY with no plates.
Boro sends me a letter to get it registered.
Boro spells Camaro wrong and states my car is a Camaro when in fact
it is a firebird
I post mispelling of Camaro because i thought it reminded me of here.

I mentioned the street thing for other purposes. Has nothing to do with the letter.... sooo.... Get it now?

Yeah, I get it. The original post is about Camaro being spelled wrong, which is funny considering how well the car is known.

As for the other stuff, that's laughable. Wait until you have an ******* neighbor who doesn't mow his lawn, or has a ****load of cats, or keeps a clapped out unregistered Hyundai in his yard. It sucks that guys who are actively working on a car have to get stung to punish the people who just maintain a **** pile, but hey, this is America and we'll punish the people with drive in addition to the lazy in one swipe. And go ahead and pull that gun on the tow guy. Say hi to Mike or Rich when you see them. You can talk F-bodies all you want.

OMG how did I miss this...I live for that ****!!!!... lemme tell you something, no matter how big and bad you think you are, the towman ALWAYS has the law on his side. You will pay, and then you will deal with the cops. and BTW I roll into appartments and pull cars for not having a parking tag, even when I know they belong there. no pass, no parking, they always pay.

Its in their contract. Any and all vehicles without a hang tags are to be removed at the cost of the owner. Every resident has a copy of our towing contract as well. Its what the property owners want, I'm paid to enforce that. If I don't they will get some one else to, simple. I've towed cars with oxygen breathers right on the front seat, handicap vans with the lift and all. I've even towed a 223in wheel base limo(super stretch). hell I'm waiting for some 20 year old girl and her 17 year old pregnant sister to WALK her from 3 miles away to pay for her car. Do I enjoy it? not really, but it pays my bills. although I do enjoy grabing outta the appartments and casinos.
