I am looking to replace the beat speakers in the doors and sail panels. I am not really a car stereo guy, so ultimate sound quality or anything that requires amps and special wiring aren't needed.
I just want some speakers that will sound ok and not break the bank. They will be hooked to a stock CD head unit if that makes any difference. Would like to keep it under $200 total.
Thanks

never had a problem with sony xplodes. you can get them really cheap as well. pioneer is another brand you can find decent prices on speakers for some good quality.
stay away from DUAL lol

I like the alpine stuff myself. They cost right around $100 for the pair so it'd be $200 for the fronts and sail panels. Check out KEE Audio on LS1tech. He sells subs just for the sail panels if your looking for really good sound quality at a good price.

Def don't get speakers that a lot bigger wattage than your radio can putout ... that's how I ruined my head unit. (275w alpines on stock head unit in my Ram)
I personally think that xplod doesn't sound that good(but it's cheap). Pioneer is good and my first choice is Alpine.
which car that's for? do you have sub in it?
good luck!
Alex.

First off Sony is pure garbage when it comes to car audio. For cheap.. i had Lightning Audio speakers and i thought they were decent. I believe Lightning Audio is a part of Rockford Fosgate. But pioneer and all them make decent low end stuff.

Do you have monsoon? BTK found some kind of decent replacements that might work. 4 of the 6 monsoons are 2 ohm.

In my opinion, pioneer speakers are the best buy for the money. I had Pioneer 3 way speakers and they were very clear, I think you would be happy with them. A set of 6x9s could be had for $55 on amazon new, and two way 5x7s are $35 new.

whats wrong with the current ones? i know the lt1's have amps that mount just below the speakers in the ring and they like to take dumps.

I did some 4 4way Pioneers (2 doors, 2 rear seats). Can't complain about the sound quality at all compared to more expensive speakers I have heard. Ofcourse the amp and 2 12's in the trunk really complete the package but then we are moving on to a completely different price range.

Current ones are just stock paper crap....even a low-end aftermarket speaker will sound better on a stock head unit than most junky factory speakers.

head unit swap would make aftermarket speakers sound a ton better, but if you arent willing to do that, then so be it...that being said, i like Kenwood speakers. good price, sound nice.

no i agree completely but if one of the amps or equalizers or whatever the fug they are have decided to crap out, new speakers won't help and might actually be ruined. just mentioning it because it has happened to me in both cars.

Do you mean the Bose amps?(intergrated 1 amp per speaker system which was optional).

Yes, but that's only for the optional radio. Stock radio is just a head unit and 4 speakers, no extra amps or anything else.

My monsoon system gave me problems from the day I bought the car. Yanked all stock radio components, installed 4 Clarion 7" speakers along with a Pioneer DEH-7800 w/Ipod Direct Connect, and sounds pretty sweet. I was gonna go overboard and get amp + subs but Id rather listen to my car make nice noises with a little music behind it

I usually just buy a set of speakers off ebay and call it a day. Four speakers will come out to about 100 bucks.
Did you ever pick a brand yet Tim?

Like it was said i would go with a new headunit too. Thats gonna make it sound better even with the stock speakers imo.
