So I may be forced to take my car to a dealer and see what they say about the ABS issues I am having. I do not trust them with my car at all and was thinking of throwing a like 2k pill in the 6AL. Bad idea?

I posted a thread in the electric/wiring section. Long story short, gremlins.

Use the 3k pill. One comes with the 6AL kit. I dunno if it will really matter though, because they can just pull it.

If they can find my MSD ;)

IDK,I worry.

i'm not too familiar with the box myself and how to change the pills, but is there some way to put a small piece of tape on the box so you would know if it has been tampered with? Putting a low rev limiter in there isn't a bad idea. If they tell you that the car has a miss then you know they've been trying to run it hard. It's worth a shot.

Well if they really wanna find my box they are making a heck of a lot of extra work.

I still need to find a dealer/shop that will work on my car.

If they see the large gauge wire in your engine bay chances are they will trace it.

i doubt they will work on your car. i really think the tuner locked out those areas in the pcm. maybe swap mine in there and see if that ruins everything?

My fear with going to a dealership is their shop rates and the quality of their help. At least most of the dealerships around here are not known for actually having the best mechanics on staff and their labor rates are insane. Do you really want to have someone poking around hoping to find an answer for $125/hr?

I really am out of optiions. I can't fix it myself.

ya especially when its something that is not common. most people don't get rid of things on their car then ask a dealer to fix it.

Well what do you suggest?

well deleting the traction control means you need a computer to control abs only. that i think is the best thing going at the moment. if you have any new wiring done to the car since the mess i would suggest moving it. like if you attached a new ground to where something else has been grounded. i would also verify that the tuner did not lock the computer too. i will see if i can find good info around.

I may have missed the thread but what is wrong with your ABS? I would def. recommend dealing with any non-stock wiring before you bring it in. It's all to easy to blame shade-tree wiring jobs on messing with a cars electrical system.

Do you plan to drop it off or wait for it?

If you can drop it off for a few days, I'd trust steveone (check the spelling on that). he's a tech at a pontiac dealer in burlington and a solid guy.

You'll be dropping it off no matter what anyway.

I forget, is it too far gone to put the TCS back in? I know I got yelled at once for asking. LOL

I was wondering the same.

Well thats the thing, I can just plug it back in, I did nothing to cut wiring etc. However, it does not change a thing...

yes it seems that something else has caused the fail in the system

I wouldnt be worried aobut them stealing things, I would be more worried about the quallty of the work as they charge 100 an hour and most tecs only make about 15

Can you just get another PCM without traction control which will allow you to retain the ABS? If the ABS itself is bad, a dealer working on a modified car does not seem like a good idea as they might start to remove some of the mods claiming they are the problem and charge you for the time.

LTb1ow
04-28-2009, 10:28 AM
That is what I was thinking, but the new PCM would not run my engine....

And I thought the PCM was not connected to the ABS, separate computers no?

EBCM and EBTCM

LTb1ow

Right, so I could swap out those and see if I did fry the one in my car?

get those grounds figured out first. then, step 2.
