Car was stole from sayreville and headed south on the parkway. I just got back from checking it out at exit 74 about 20 mins ago. There was about 15 cop cars trailing the car. Anyone happen to catch it? Sry, wasn't able to take pics.

yep. I just happen to hear about it because someone in my house had a police scanner on. After they passed exit 74 the scanner got pretty quiet so we're not sure if they caught the guy a little south of here or if it's still going on.

Yeah, it's the ****ing bomb, especially when a family of 6 gets killed because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

the state police contacted all townships and had all of the exits and entrances for parkway south blocked off, so I don't think he was getting away. I guess we'll find out tomorrow what happened. It was pretty weird to see 7 cops just chilling around the parkway entrances.

well come on i thought it would be common sense to understand it would only be cool if nobody got hurt

ron u learned from my mistake by stating 'as long as nobody gets hurt'. hahah i like you u narrow it down to a 93-02 fbody. lol what about a big block 69 camaro.

no matter what he or she is driving, the radio travels faster. police call ahead, lay down a spike strip or block the road, and that person loses.

and while the idea of a police chase sounds cool, i feel sorry for whoever the owner of the vehicle is, and anyone that might get caught up and possibly injured in this event all on account of one person's selfishness and stupidity.

even if he can out run them they will find them..........they may have called off the chase casue jersey has a no chase law to keep people from getting hurt.

No high speed... IIRC, over 100 MPH.

that's not true at all. there are no laws against a high-speed chase. it's in the officer's discretion in the interest of public safety whether or not to engage in a high-speed pursuit.

*edit* there are laws against high speeds, though. they call them 'speed limits'. lol

or the safety of the assailant also ive heard...im sure police wouldnt want to pursue a kid on a bike doing 150+mph, set up spikes or try to use the pit maneuver if it would kill them..lawsuitttttt. especially if they committed a minor traffic infraction and decided to bolt

im almost positive jersey has a no chase policynot a law per say but still in the rule books......its up to the officers discretion but its better to let someone go who will turn up anyway then to pursue and put innocent people at risk becasue of some moron who tries to run........dumbest idea ever dont any of them watch cops ha ha

isnt the "no chase" only apply to local cops, not the state police??

Masonite
05-03-2009, 01:26 PM
again, there is no "no chase" law. it's at the discretion of the officer and his/her supervisor.

i could see that policy in effect on rt 9 going thru towns or something when its busy but on the parkway, they'd probably try to keep up. any word on the suspect's outcome?

Update: Well my dad said he found an article about it online earlier today in a newspaper out of Lakewood. The guy ended up hitting a spike strip and got off the parkway at exit 63 where he was eventually caught by the stafford township police. I'm not sure why the other major newspapers aren't reporting on it yet.

I had a high speed pursuit blow past me about 3 years ago. I was leaving Brookdale, got onto the parkway headed south, and a S10 blazer came flying past me at well over 100mph, with about 5 cops following. More cops came down after, and slowed traffic down to keep the roads clear. I called into 101.5 as did a few others. They finally caught him around 70'sh...so a good 30 mile jaunt down the parkway.

I was in a chase once. In NC, I was speeding the cop flipped a u turn on a 4 lane road(two in each direction) I figured id get away floored it. Hit some traffic, went onto the other side of the road past that traffic probally hitting 70 mph before slowing down and then came across 3 lanes into the entrance to the local mall. Through the parking lot ended up ditching the car behind an abandoned building in the mall parking lot and going to mcdonalds around the corner.
I could see cops going ALL over the place and all passing through the mall and after 10 minutes figured they thought i got away..went towards the car ..cop was in the lot circling around and saw me so I walked in the firestone nearby instead of continuing to my car. He came in long story short 10 cops high fiving each other and busting me with more tickets than I can handle. This was almost 2 years ago and im still paying off that lawyer! I spent the night in jail and paid through my nose, but it was a lesson I needed to learn.
Best damn lawyer in NC tho let me tell you I got away with almost everything :)

BTW no one got hurt luckily it was stupid I KNOW and I paid for it.
