Well, I figured I could use some extra money for the firebird (tires, brakes, suspension, etc.) and the trailer, so I entered myself to compete on Pass Time. After all, this summer I'll only be working P/T with a neighborhood friend doing some paint work ($6/hr or so ... under the table and such) and parts ain't as cheap as they were once.
So, anyone else sign up? btw - I'll be competing with Ken "The House" Herring if I should be selected, not driving. So, if I've seen your car, STAY OFF! Actually, I don't think I've seen more than two or three NJFBOA member's cars on the track (just haven't been out there much) as far as cars that I know and remember, so I should be good.

if theres a chance that you do get picked to be on the show. you wont have to worry about knowing any of the local cars because you will be at a track far from jersey where you dont know any of the cars.

I signed up as well. James and I watch it together, and I'm usually closer than he is, and usually would win compared to the people on TV. So I entered for the heck of it. Haven't heard a peep from them though.

Me and my friends play this game (with a DVR to pause so we can all write down our guesses) and same deal, I usually do alot better than the other people on TV.

Just play kinda dumb if they "interview" you before selecting you for the show.

Honestly, it doesn't look like they do any interview. I've seen it all on there, from guys who don't know they're stuff to guys that really know their stuff. After all, they don't want idiots on there - if every game, Ken Herring had a $600 lead into the final round, it wouldn't last one season, and I think they know that.

That show is retarded and you would deserve to be smacked if you went on it for any purpose other than to kick everyone related to pinks in the nuts.

it has nothing to do with pinks.
the show has "the big swag" from monster garage as the main host. and then there's ken from pinks as "the house" ken and 2 contestants have to guess the time that a car is going to run based on the information that they manage to get from the driver of the car. theres 3 rounds totaling up to $2000 and who ever gets the highest $ at the end wins everything and gets the entire $2000

basically they have someone pull up in a car, three contestants get to each ask one question, they guess an ET, closest gets the money. The person who gets the last run right gets all the money. The kicker is that they have the one guy from the Pinks crowd that knows anything about cars play against two newbs, so 99.9% of the time you know who the money is gonna go home with.
It is a bigger waste of air time than pimp my ride.

idk, Pimp My Ride, imo, is quite a bit worse. It's not necessarily "whomever wins the last round wins the money".
1st three cars - $100 per car
2 more cars $200/car, plus the "combo round" (1 time for the two cars, so car A + car B, only ask one question, pick which driver to ask) - also a flat $200 for the combo round.
3 more cars - $300/car.
4th round - $500, one car.
If you know the owner/driver of the car, you're supposed to step down for that round. So, if Vinnie (I know to the tenth what he'll run every day) pulls up, I'd need to step down. Whoever has the most money when the game ends walks home with the cash. I have seen cases where an individual has no cash, or has too little to compete in the final round ($100, the Ken and the other contestant have the rest) and as a result, regardless of result, will lose in the end. As others stated, you get to ask a question, i.e. "is the car on the bottle" or "what kind of HP are you making"; I've even seen questions about safety equipment (gives an idea of times, assuming they have the minimum requirement for their class).
Not bench racing - more of podium racing I guess. idk what to call it. Bench racing is when two ricers are sitting at a McDonalds seeing whose car mods list is longer, imo. Don't like it: don't watch it, and/or don't go on there. No complaints here ... I need the cash, and the potential to get paid for going to a dragstrip and watching some cars go down the track, I'll take that, no problem.
