I have a 2000 Formula that came with cloth seats and I just purchased leather seats from a 2001 Trans Am which has the power lumbar connection. I haven't removed my seats yet, but would there be the wiring somewhere in my car for the lumbar? I couldn't see GM using different wiring harnesses like that, so I wonder if I can make the lumbar work.
Anyone with experience?

The power seats I have installed have simple 2 wire connectors, ground & hot. I doubt power lumbar adds to that, but I am not sure.
Power seats need pretty good power leads, like 12g or maybe 14g, and IIRC GM uses circuit breakers, not fuses. If I get time I'll check out a wiring diagram.

the power lumbar seats in my trans am that i had original had like 6 different wires going to it. orange is hot, black is ground. there were a few others like blue, purple and the like going on there. i went backwards from the deluxe to the standard leather so i just spliced the power into it. also there are vacuum lines that go to the bolsters to pump them up
the harness may be tucked under the carpet

i put trans am seats with the lumbar situation in my camaro. its just a hot and ground going into the driver seat, every f-body has the same one. you need to attach an air hose harness from the driver seat to the passenger seat. its 4 hoses. they don't give you much length so watch out. i would unbolt the center console to make life easier.
so ya there isn't separate power going to the lumbar, just a 3 foot air hose harness.

this is a good call, take a look. I know the 99 I stripped had all the wiring for a CD changer it did not have.

so did mine, but mine doesn't have any air hose harness for lumbar it doesn't have. i have the carpet out now. just the 2 wire power seat plug

yeah it came with the seats when i got them, i think it has a power and ground too now that i think of it, otherwise the switches wouldn't work on the passenger side. eh if you don't have it figured out i'll look at my seats monday.

It worked out. Thanks guys! Had to remove center consol to wire. Formula looks a ton better with leather! Now I have my Mustang packed with the old cloth seats! Time to sell! I'll post pics when I get on a computer.
