Apparently, I suck at drag racing.
Got my very first run in tonight at Atco, and managed to run oh so slow.
14.452 at 105, yesssssssssss oh and an awesome 2.5 60'.
I enjoyed it though and am looking forward to actually running a time respectable for my car.

why did you go through the waterbox with mt's?
LTb1ow
05-20-2009, 12:33 AM
Have to at Atco, and I was a newb and got all rushed into staging, IDK, I was trying to do what the guy next to me was doing, cept he was an AWD suby. Sooooo fml.
NastyEllEssWon
05-20-2009, 12:35 AM
you should be able to drive around the water box? hell at least to back your back tires in. wet front tires never helped anyone.
but damn man. 14's????
LTb1ow
05-20-2009, 12:37 AM
Pretty much.
It felt kinda dead up top, and I had a feeling it needs a fuel pump, so that may help if it is running lean up top. And or also, I kinda didn't know where the track ended, so again, newbie is I.

05-20-2009, 12:37 AM
i ran 13.6 trapping 101 with 6 good cyls in a "turd gen" stock auto trans stock stall open rear with 3.08 gears bald street tires lmao
60' could def go down a bunch, thatll knock time off your et, plus u trapped 105 thats a mid to low 13 second car if you practice more
So are you the new buster or is it still jam?

LTb1ow

Like I said, banged the limiter in 1st and 2nd. Lots of spin, prob a better burnout than the puny one I attempted pre stage wise.

don't feel bad. my very first run was much worse than yours, if you can imagine. 16.2s @ 86mph :-P. that's in my current vehicle--305, 5-speed, 3.73 posi, street tires (mildly spun). i definitely need to practice, but i had a lot of fun, and that's worth something.

no, you cant drive around it at Atco. Thats why you continue spinning as far as you can go.

looks like I shoulda took the truck out. All i would of had to do was tree you and I would have taken the win lol. Looks like you should have a 13.0 car if you can get that 60' down to a 1.8. Should be a good run with you on a 100-125 shot vs me on motor.

probably faster than that, like he said he spun through second, so it probably spun to at least 150 feet..........the calculation for the 60' gets it to a low low 13, but i would guess you can add a couple more tenths for the distance past the 60' he spun.......i would venture to say a solid run would net him a 12.7 or 12.8

05-20-2009, 07:34 AM
yeah there are some issues with the car like hitting the limiter, losing it on the top end, oh and doin a burn out  next time matt is gunna spray too

i always go through with my et streets

should of done a burnout. I sarted out runnin 14s on my car so dont feel bad for yourself. Ofcourse that was on street tires but it takes practice. Worst i spun on slicks i ran a 13.32 93 mph. Im suprised you spun that bad. It was bad night there. I got out of line and just left

They wave when your allowed to start your burnout. There is a light at the end of the track that comes on when your done. First time there mistakes should be expected. Cant wait to see the next couple runs
KirkEvil
05-20-2009, 12:08 PM
There was a lot of tire spin. I think you were doing like 20 mph at 100 ft into it haha. It was late and the track was really cold by the time everyone got to run.
Next time drop the pressure in the tires and smoke em. At just remember, you weren't the worst lt1 to run last night...haha

Just go to the track and have fun until you get it all figured out, don't put pressure on your self to run a number, that will come as you gain experience. Honestly, it is going to take a few trips to the track until you start figuring it all out.
The launch is the key and the tuffest part. You need to learn/practice to leave with minimal spin, leave easy and roll into it. Focus on that and hitting your shifts and you will see a big drop in your ETs. Once you get consistent then you want to start hitting the tree, take everything in small steps.
FYI: The basic rule is everything you cut off the 60' doubles at the top end. So if you can get your 60' near the 2.0 mark you should run in the 13.5 range.
LTb1ow
05-21-2009, 10:23 AM
A 13.5 would be nice, if the car was stock...
But yea, I hear you, I def need more seat time and trying to get off the line quicker.

With your stall you should be ably to pull a 1.8 with out a prob just get the tires heated up and see how the car likes to launch. I ran a few 13 passes on slicks but after i got a feel at launching i was in the 12s. Advide dont worry about the car next to you or what your reaction time is. If your just going for a PB then reaction time doesnt matter. My 12.3 run i think my reaction time was .9 something ha ha really sad but i was more focused on launchin my car.

he is just doing the math off the 60 foot, since you spun way past that, you would knock off quite a bit more by hooking

If you banged the limiter in two gears you should have actually trapped faster than you did and with LE2 heads and a cam somewhere around a CC306 I am assuming. I would say with a decent tune (not even dead on) you should be deep into the 12's. Something like 12.6 with a pretty good hook,

05-23-2009, 12:50 AM
You can still bang the limiter in a auto if thats your point. I have done it, if you get too much wheel spin the tranny doesn't engage the next gear quick enough and it hits the limiter and then shifts.
