I had already planned on selling the 2000SS to raise money for the JL8 restoration and committed to buying this 1999 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 as a new daily driver when I ended up selling the 1970 SS396 this past weekend. I still wanted the truck so I picked it up today. It's a 99 Tacoma SX with 126K miles, 5 speed, 2.7 4 cyl. It should serve the purpose as a daily beater and I may still go ahead and sell the 2000SS and use some of that money for another potential project.
It needs a cleaning and has a few small scratches, dents, dings and rust spots, but the frame is good and it runs pretty good. It has a P0420 code for the converter so I'll need to clear that up before going through inspection in Aug. And the toolbox in the back has already been taken out!

That's a great truck to pickup granted the frame is not rusted...as you already confirmed was in good shape. The Mrs. had the same year, color, engine, but with an auto. Great little truck and it never gave her a problem.

Yeah, you just need to check the frame before buying. I gave it a quick wash and waxed one fender and it cleaned up pretty good. I don't think the guy had waxed in many years so it looks really faded.

nice truck. I really like short bed standard cab trucks. you gonna be able to tow your boat with that?

The Tacoma has a higher towing capacity than the SS so it shouldn't be a problem.

Nice truck, if the paint is just faded some rubbing compound and a buffer will bring it right back. Good luck with it!
