 It was a good 5 years and I had a lot of fun, but the ride is over.
My Z28 left the driveway for the very last time. It was a little hard to see her go but she went to a good new owner.
I know some of you understand and some of you think I'm idiot.

So now I'm on the market for a new toy. Probably a project this time but something I can take out for a ride while I'm messing around.
I'm thinking either a 3rd gen, G body, or maybe even a Fox body.
Now I'll put it out there for my fellow F-body brothers to shoot me some ideas. Heres what I'm thinking

3rd Gen, preferably a 84-87 Sport Coupe or LT(Lightweight, and like the look) But just about any model is fine with me.
I either want to do a corner carver or full on street strip car. And no LS1 motor, all Gen 1.

Second would be a Olds Cutlass with a GN swap or 455 Olds or SBC.
I always liked the 81-88 Olds G.

Or a 87-93 5.0 5-spd. I know it's a ford, but I did own a 88 gt vert and it is a fun car.

Now for the tricky part, I only want to spend $2500 on the car plus whatever the Mods cost down the road. Let me rephrase that, my wife will only let me spend $2500 on the car.

Most importantly I don't want to do any body work or buy a beat to crap car thats been hacked to pieces.

So what do you guys think?

I am by no means anti Third Gens but I would get the Stang, I use to own a 93 LX Limited Edition 5.0 White convertible and loved it. If I was to see a car like my old Stang for sale at a reasonable price I am pretty sure I would have some credit cards to max.

yea, it will only take a thousand years to make a dollar in interest, but hey, its free money:rofl:.

bust of luck with the new toy! Not sure what cars you have had in the past, but maybe look into one that you haven't owned yet so it a new experience.

I have the time and patience to wait for the right car to come along. I was at a point with the 98 where it was gonna take a boat load of money to take it to the next step. And I really didn't see the point in doing that.

I know, Foxes are fun and cheap to mod.

Lol tell me about it, every month my ing apr goes down. I never owned a 3rd Gen or a G-body. The car is going to be a toy car so DDing it doesn't matter.
I also never had a Big Block. Maybe BB 3rd Gen...

I don't think he wants one....out of his budget of $2500

What happened to us having a go at it at atco? lol. J/k, I understand some things just have to be done. I'd get a fox body...they can become real sleepers(ranging from 15's in a stock one to 10's in a street car that still looks stock). I know of someone selling an 87 5-speed for $2500. Car has no rust and some exhaust work. Only thing is it's got red interior. Let me know if you want more info on it.

yeah i say go for a fox body, or if u want, get a fox body roller and throw an ls1/t56 in there and you'll have a mean pretty light car for not too much money. (granted you do the work yourself)

Is that the one CL Vin? I was looking at that, do you know the car? If so PM me.
I'll have to catch a rain check on the heads up at Atco, Unless you want to spot me 8 seconds in my Silverado, Haha.

I love the Gen 3 motors. But $1000 intakes plus $2500 heads, $1000 headers etc...

I don't really know much on the car, but it was listed on a more "local" car forum and it popped out in my mind when you said fox body.

Btw, I still have the Dakota. If we did that race I'd only have to spot u 2 seconds lol.

i lik the 3rd gen BB idea:nod: find a 3rd gen for a low price and then find an old truck with a 454 do some work to the 454 drop it in with some suspension and you hav an animal:drool:

I hate to say but having a limited budget for a older used car is a kinda of a lose-lose situation. Besides wanting to mod other stupid stuff you least expect to break may break. Also no husband or wife should be able to set a limit unless he/she is paying all the bills. My girl cut that nonsense out Years ago.. If I were you I'd have to go fox body. I love GM 100% but Fox bodies parts are a dime a dozen and a 3 year old can work on those cars. Good Luck

Hey Vin do you have the link?

There is a bunch of 3rd's around for pretty cheap

It is tempting, and I never had a BB. Gut it add a 454+th400, the stock rear should hold for a few miles:mrgreen:

Well I can see how you might take it as that but I just bought a 1942 Springfield M-1 Garand and a Sig Sauer P239.
And I sold the 98 because I just wan't getting any use out of it, and to take it to the next level was going to get real expensive.

I also miss wrenching on my own car. So I cashed out put most of the money in the bank for a rainy day, and put $2500 aside to start a new project.

they can have my '69 when they pry the steering wheel from my cold, dead fingers.

there is a ton of information out there about BBC shoehorns into third-gens. find a body you can live with and have at it. you might want to read up on it first, though, as some of those hop up parts are in the gen 3 region. once you have decided what you want, whether it be a toy to tinker with or something a little more serious, then you can decide what to buy. having an idea of what you want when the car is "finished" is key in keeping with any budget, large or small.

The guy's CL ads keep getting messed up. I posted up on the other forum that the car is listed on and said I have someone interested in the car so any info I get on the car I'll pass along to you via PM.
