Im looking to pick up a 2nd job, very limited part time stuff to pick up some quick cash so that I can start stock piling more money.
Any ideas? Autozone was my 2nd job, making extra bucks every pay check for FU while I saved up all the cash from Sears. Only worked 12-16 hrs a week, so it wasnt that bad.
But now Im thinking of picking up a 2nd job, something easy to do while making a decent buck for a few hours. It would probably have to be at night and on the weekends.
I have thought about cars salesman, but there are ups and downs with that.

- save up about 2-3 grand and purchase powder coating equipment and start a side business.

EDIT: or just buy a setup for under $1000. just get a powder coating gun and a heat lamp (lame) and do small stuff then when you can afford a big electric oven do bigger stuff....and then soon enough you can afford a giant oven

Start an ebay business as a reseller or go junkyard hopping and sell the parts...it's something that's not hard and stuff you can do at your own pace.

Try the towing industry. its quick and easy and most places right now are only looking for part time drivers.

see about an ebay business..but last i checked you need a tax id number and stuff to make it legit.

have you looked into delivering pizzas or being a delivery boy of some sort? i remember when i used to do that they needed people on nights and mostly weekends and i used to make decent bucks, chilled out in my car most of the time listened to music, brought my buddies along

Waiter or even the guy that clears tables, they make mostly cash and its not too hard of a job. Night hours. Etc.

Or at Home Depot as said above, working the night shift un loading trucks/stocking.

id say a waiter isnt a bad job but they are also going to want you to work day shifts sometimes. usually they give all the people who have been there a longer time better hours and such. at least from my experience, my friends, and all of my co workers at famous daves.

Part time jobs sucks thats for sure...I dont need one anymore but when i first got out of the military I worked at both lowes and home depot part time..there probably your best bet money wise. Think they paid me 12-13 bucks to start in the lumber dept. Also going into the summer run up to pepsi in Ocean Twp. There usually looking for part time mechandisers(I did that also part time lol). Once you get through the union bs the 14-15 bucks an hour isnt bad at all. I wouldnt work at walmart if it was the last store on earth lol.

- waiter is a good idea, although it's gonna take about a week or two for training depending on the place, but you make easy bank.
- bartender at a chain restaurant or something is also a fine idea, you don't need to have experience to become a bartender, it wound help, but not necessary.
- start detailing cars for a little side money. (inside and out = $125)
- just think of what your interests are and what you're good at and make a business out of it. you like cars, you have some mechanical experience.....make a revolutionary product for our cars and mass produce it..

waiter, pizza delivery, or caddy if you know anyone from golf courses. a few of my friends do that and make really good money. i'm considering applying to a few body shops over the summer to replace my current part time job. $7 an hour after taxes sucks.

HeadlessNorseman
05-26-2009, 02:04 PM
yeah autozone is kind of crappy to be stuck at. I delivered pizza for some dude as a favor and made 120 bucks. You might make less than that driving the z28 or caprice though lol

BonzoHansen
05-26-2009, 02:57 PM
Plus all that stop & go driving is tough on a car. And your car smells like pizza and stuff spills everyonce in the while.

madness410
05-26-2009, 03:07 PM
yeah thats the thing though..the stop and go driving. when i was a delivery boy i did the speed limit to maximize fuel efficiency, coasted to red lights, and really took it easy on my car. either way i was getting 7.50 an hour, and i wouldnt really care if people got their pizzas late lol.

your car will smell like pizza but if you drive with your window cracked, open or your sunroof open it really helps.

Al, i dont know where you live but if your near Morristown (In Morris County) i could see if you would want a job doing security at the hospital i work at. We need people during the weekends at all times, after a year or so you could make over 20 an hour, i been here two and a half years and i love it, good money and not that hard when you know what your doing..... let me know if your interested i could put in a good word

GM needs a car guy at the wheel, not businessmen. Sure they can work there too, but not in charge or everything.

like bonzo said earlier, you could barback. thats just taking care of dirty glasses, bringing out ice and filling the coolers with beer. if you get in at a busy bar, you can make some decent money.

you could try a maintenance job at a golf course/country club. friends of mine in high school did that, you get to work outside if its nice out and inside if its crappy out.

waiting tables/bus boy is a great part time job. you'd probably be better off being a bus boy, I doubt established waiters/waitresses would like another waiter coming in and making their own schedule.

Yeah the high school jobs I'm not down for. Bar backing is worse then anything listed so far outside of jams post.
Yes I'm looking for a lazy job. I did caddying when I was 16. not a great job to do at night.
Conflict of interest with sears so that's a no go.

i think you might be best off looking for a security job then.... my friend mostly works only nights and weekends... he makes like $12 an hour or something like that... and its a part time thing

BigAls87Z28
05-26-2009, 11:49 PM
Security Job might not be too bad. But that might get too inolved.
I might pursuit the car salesman route, see where that takes me.

BobonaStick
05-27-2009, 01:07 AM
The sales route isn't bad if you can find a place that doesnt have quotas. I know a few places that i work wit have them. Security for a hospital or like a strip mall would probably be best for easy relax money.

jims69camaro

the guy that clears tables

AKA busboy. you know, that's not a bad idea. zero ag and cash everyday. working overnight stock at home depot is ball busting work. but you'll get paid. i'd vote for busboy, because of the hours you are looking to fill are the hours that most kids want off.

Barnes and Noble, and Borders are open until 10pm - midnight depending on the store. Retail book sales, easy as pie.

Restocking grocery shelves.

Parking cars at upscale restaurants.

Pump gas.

Police / EMT / trucking / taxi dispatch.

Newspaper delivery - real early mornings before the day job.

BonzoHansen
05-27-2009, 01:07 PM
Newspaper delivery really kills your car - papers are heavy, lots of stop & go. It's like deivering a month's worth of pizza per day. I had a customer that did that. The parts we replaced in her car over the years woud be typical for like 4 cars with twice the mileage, I swear. It got to the point she just pulled it in and said "keep it under $500"

atco would be the better place to work. they're open 5 days a week, 7 with rentals, and they actually give a sht about their staff. englishtown would be like working for microsoft and trying to stand out.
