Al you retard that is certainly not butternut yellow. IIRC it is Daytona Yellow - same as a real ZL1 he once owned.

That is Charley Lillard's car. Mark Stielow (GM engineer, 69 Camaro builder extraordinaire) is in charge of that build. It got the 1st 'crate' LS9. Charley also owns the cars known as the Mule, Camaro X and the Red Witch IIRC.

Go on Power Tour, he's long hauling it.

Fun fact: JL8Jeff bought his 69 JL8 car from Charlie.

It's a beautiful car and its executed well, but its not anything revolutionary. He transplanted corvette parts into yet another 69 Camaro......This one took special connections and cubic dollars. Beyond that?????? Is the 69 Camaro maybe the sexiest muscle car ever built by GM, sure. Is it typical to take the latest Vette stuff and transplant it into a 1st gen, sure. Would I love to have the car? Sure.

But purely from a creative thinking standpoint, not really out of the box kinda stuff. And if ya do something enough (build pro-touring first gens for example) you should be pretty good at it.

I don't like the guy. His cars are gorgeous.......but the pro-touring 69 camaro schtick is getting old.

I know I'm alone in this mindset, but oh well.

big red one will always be the best 69 camaro built and would eat this car for breakfast.

I will never get tired of g-Machine/Pro-Touring 69 Camaros. Ever.
The carbon-ceramic brakes would be the first Ive seen on any 69 Camaro.
But I agree, its nothing out of the box. Its not like its some odd job engine, its a Gen IV V8 with a blower on it.
The brakes though...my goodness

This is the ULTIMATE 69 Camaro and the one that I think Steilow originally set out to surpass but could never catch.

At least this one is actually raced and driven to the edge and past it, rebuilt and raced again and won......

R.J. Gottlieb FTW BIG RED CAMARO = BAD@$$

Without the BIG RED CAMARO there is no Mule, Thrasher, Red Witch or Daytona Yellow LS9 69 Camaro with Carbon Fiber brakes.

I say race that beotch and win, then we'll talk.

It is a beautiful car and the brake package is pretty sick. Do something with the car though, don't turn it into a paper weight. Race it and race it hard and show me some results of all that hardware.

Big Red obviously started it all. This car might pass the original Big Red because technology allowed him. That car was wrecked and the current version of big red is a tube chassis race car - it's no more a 69 Camaro than Dale Jr's car is an Impala

Very true Scott.
and its not carbon fiber, its carbon ceramic brakes. If you just drive it day to day, without any major abuse, you will never have to replace the brakes...ever.

The other thing is that guys like Stielow come up with ideas for new parts that regular schmoes like us can buy after his project is done. Something on one of his projects creates a buzz and then gets slated for production.

Someone on another site mentioned that Mark might or might not have been the lead engineer on the Z28.

Exactly! Somebody has to come up with the hardware to make some of these things happen and then it becomes more mass produced which reduces the costs for the little guy. But I still don't like the wheels on this particular car.
