I graduated from lincoln tech 2 years ago. I'm looking into becoming a cop now, and alot of places require 60 college credits. I was wondering if tech schools give college credits and how many?

i was under the assumption that the only way to get college credits for a tech course is if you go to a community college with a tech program but also part of a general ed program as well.....i looked into it when i was like 18

Yaaa good ol Lincoln tech. Those were good times huh? lol... I'd call them up. I remember around the time we graduated i heard about Lincoln tech offering classes at some community college and that the credits we got at Lincoln tech counted. Again I'd just call to be 100% sure. Am I the only one that feels like that was 23K wasted?

I learned a lot at LTI, but it got me into a tough field making the same money I was making in retail.
I always find it funny, everyone says its a waste of money (including myself).
I know none of my credits were really worth anything other than the satisfaction that I completed a degree program. I did get a nice piece of paper though.

If you go Air Force they will pay up to $9,000 for certifications (ASE or other mechanic certs). Not sure about other branches benefits.

76-84 is an associates degree...
Edit: My bad, those numbers are for an engineering degree, not sure what other degrees require.

Along the same line of discussion is Brookdale's Automotive program really as good as i have heard? Some things i have read say it's one of the better programs in the entire country.

Yup, the head guy just won the top award from GM this year. And they are getting a huge expansion this summer, I think they will have 6 or 7 full bays and a few more classrooms.
It is one of the top ASME schools I think.

Ya it sucks man. I think the only class i learned anything was A/C and electrical. But only E1 with Allan. Everything else was a joke. You heard ruben got fired a while back right? It sucks having to pay 118 dollar a month in student loans for a school that was nothing less than a waste. I also pay 130 for the student loans from college. 3.8 in college and a 3.9 for lincoln tech... And i work at a small engines shop.. What a waste of money....

Yeah...Linc Tech is a big waste. Brookdale does have a great program, and they are expanding thier auto shop by a lot. Its been gettng some really great marks over the last few years.

I went to lincoln tech for about 4 months, here is some reason why I quit lol:
1. The race team was a bunch of crap, the teachers would put together a motor, and you would clean the truck pfft, no thanks.
2. My teacher had a discussion about biggie and tupac in my brakes class with some of the students for about 2 hours, I got up and left... no lie.
3. The lack of hands on experience, its all bookwork and minimal shop time. Which was absolutely not what they told me when I signed up. Oh well, live, learn, and lose a couple grand.
4. The stupid box of napa brand tools that cost about 7 times the actual cost.
5. When I learned that they were only ASE "recognized" and didn't supply the test to you. I started to ask myself what the point was, I was paying tons of money and getting small amounts of information about how a car works, and no ASE certification. f that place
I'm glad I didn't stay the full 13 months, it would have been a big waste of time and a huge waste of money....:-x

Where is that? Most colleges and universities have a minimum of 120.

lmao ya seriously. It sucks man. i work so hard and every month i gotta thjrow away 118 bucks for that bs school man. i dont mind the college loans i have to pay back cuz i actually learned ****. but LTI. Pfft. It's a joke. Between all the damn idiots who barely know the different between a nut and a bolt, the lack of hands on, "instructors" who are complete idiots i dont know whats the worst part.

Sorry if I upset you guys lol, but I had my reasons to leave where as you guys may have had your reasons to stay. I would never use another lincoln tech establishment ever. So if you're looking to be a cop I'd try elsewhere.

I found out they give 62 credits for completing the course. So I'm set as far as that goes. =]
