3 months to go... who's in?

As of now, Sept. 18th is the day of all days, well actually the night of all nights...

i know its like 3 months away but time does fly by and itll be here before we know it. Im not sure how to hold this event. 3 options exist... a friends place, rent a hall, or the usual...the basement. i think we'd all lean towards the latter, being that its the easiest and free. Due to the timing, im not sure how big the event will be. i know several people will be back at college and wont be able to attend so that'll hurt the guest list im sure.

im also debating kegs or 30 packs... all depends on number of possible attendees. (Hard liqour selection will be restocked prior anyway). one bigger ice luge block will be present, cuz that was just funny. (um yea 21 to drink... we know how it goes)

There will also be more food than in the past and the kickoff time will be earlier to allow more relaxed sober conversation and eating prior to the intense night of alcohol consumption. Hence another reason i need a rough headcount so food can be bought before i return.

and like the majority of my events, there will be no door charge but it is appreciated if everyone brings something, food or alcohol(beer/hard).
im considering all attendees are required to do a shot at some point... ;-)

start time would be 6pm...
and local police will be informed of the event prior.

theres usually enough room for many people to crash overnight, i dont want people driving home drunk please.
and also parking shouldnt be an issue either, if it is, we'll shuttle people from a local parking lot/friends house, lol.

What members here are up for this event or would care to come?
(matt, kasey, melissa, tim, ted, jm... u are all coming, like it or not)

yes, like matt said, im coming home from afghanistan. i'ill only be home for 2 weeks since it is just my R&R and then i have to come back over here to finish out my tour. I'll be home for good a few months later.

the majority of the people here that are coming, have hung out with me quite a bit in the past and have also became friends with my other non-fbody based friends. Basically my "parties" have joined like 4 of my friend groups into one. I started having them back when i was 21, because its cheaper than going out to a bar or such and its a more relaxed feel imo. plus people can stay the night so no need to drive drunk. Then for a while i got just too busy to have people over, but when i joined the army in the spring of 2007, i started having what i called gatherings once again. and since im stationed in NY, when im in the states, i only get back to jersey twice a month at most so i'd have people come by so i can see most of my friends in one place. Dont get it wrong, these are not open house parties. The people who come are respectful of the house and dont cause problems which i appreciate a lot. I know 99% of the people there first hand, others i may meet for the first time or through friends. Anyone who cause an issue or disrespect is just never invited back again, which has been the case where a female stole anothers wallet when she drove her home, some people....


Now on a similar note, i have heard some info on estimates dates for returning home for good and also as to plans for my units next deployment back here to Afghanistan. i like what ive heard so far.
