thinkin about a few more things to remove. gotta get the compressor out still , might get rid of the washer reservoir, relocate some wires and possibly the pcm, maybe move the battery and change up the coolant reservoir, ahhh ideas ideas.....

You need your AIR pump, you won't pass now. Without a sway bar you will have a lousy ride, and you can't go deleting fuel lines, you are lowing the value of your car!!!!

Bah!

sweetbmxrider

06-11-2009, 06:50 PM
i still dont understand why you deleated your sway bar... arent you still gonna DD this thing... yout gonna have loads of body roll.... i under stand people with racecars do it... but its not like your gonna be running 10's tomarrow haha.... i just dont get you guys sometimes... fuel lines are cool though that deff cleans it up alot!

LTb1ow
06-11-2009, 06:53 PM
He can't even drive tomorrow, forget running 10s.... ;)

sweetbmxrider
06-11-2009, 06:53 PM
thanks and the sway bar deletion helps transfer the nose weight onto the rear tires, thus better 60's. i don't think the body roll is going to be that ridic, i mean hop in a lincoln town car. plus, skinnies up front aint gunna help much, not that they will be on every day.....

LTb1ow
06-11-2009, 06:55 PM
Sweet, more things to add to the list for my car on Sunday!

Should pick up set of sway bar links that are for a Jeep. Jeep guys have ones that you can pull a c pin and they are disconnected. Surprised that no one has developed them yet for racing.

LTb1ow
06-11-2009, 06:58 PM
Jeeps are slow.

sweetbmxrider
06-11-2009, 07:00 PM
might look into that al. these 4th gens have brackets that mount to the frame rails as well that i took off. its where the bushings mount, !weight!

LTb1ow
06-11-2009, 07:02 PM
Maybe, !rear seats?

sweetbmxrider
06-11-2009, 07:04 PM
they are gone, i have delete boxes. belts and some hardware gone too. thinkin about different front seats though. anybody know what the thing is under the overflow bottle? i saw a vacuum line going to it when i was ridding the sway bar mount, then forgot to check it out further.

LTb1ow
06-11-2009, 07:07 PM
Prob for the hood latch.

transmaro93
06-11-2009, 07:10 PM
dude dont take this as a jerk comment... but just be carefull when you drive this thing.... i think how much body roll you have is gonna really surprise you... dont want to see you hit a guard rail on an off ramp going like 40 or somthing... and also... again not to sound like a dick cuase in the end its your car... if your that concerned with racing.... BUILD A RACECAR out of your car... you have the down time now to do the engine... just do it and drive a beater around... depending on how fast my car is when im done... i might just make it into a race car and cage it and stuff... if its that fast i dont know how fast its gonna be yet... would like mid 11's but well just have to see...

transmaro93
06-11-2009, 07:11 PM
Prob for the hood latch.

why would the hood latch have vacuum going to it... hope this was sarcasm hahaha

LTb1ow
06-11-2009, 07:11 PM
Cause the hood latch cable can look like a vaccum line...

transmaro93
06-11-2009, 07:13 PM
but that latch is in like plain sight...

LTb1ow
06-11-2009, 07:13 PM
Find me the cable for it. ;)

And what a jerk says that kinda stuff... geezzzz, not your car is it!

lol ;)

sweetbmxrider
06-11-2009, 07:23 PM
thanks for the concern brandon, i'll have to experience it though to really know if its an issue. i'm keeping the bar though so i can always throw it on.

hood latch is on driver side douche, this is under the coolant reservoir like just above the plastic fender. i might tuck the hood latch cable under the inner fender too....

06-11-2009, 07:25 PM

transmaro93
06-11-2009, 07:36 PM

it definitely has more body roll...I'm not gonna try and say it doesn't. It can still handle some pretty sharp maneuvers. It helped get my 60' down at the track though.

transmaro93
06-11-2009, 07:48 PM
what the ghey

HAH! how much time did it take off your 60 vinnie

ever drive one without a front sway? its not bad at all, when i run stock wheels/tires i can go around on off ramps with no problems, just cant pretend im mario andretti.

I do remember seeing a vacuum line there too. Don't remember for sure what it is but my bet would be windshield washer fluid related.

sweetbmxrider

Yeah, it's defiently worse but not god awful. When I broke both "ears" off of my front sway the car handled worse but not dangerously so. When I fixed the problem (new bar) it handled noticibly better. Unless you are going to the track a lot I'd leave it on, but that's just me.

I think that vacuum line goes to a reservoir for vacuum that helps control some of the vents for the heat/AC inside the car. Has anyone just tried disconnecting the front sway bar for the track to see what the weight transfer improvement is in 60' times vs removing it altogether? That would interesting to see the affect of disconnecting vs the weight removal. And if you really want to get some weight off the nose, get rid of that boat anchor!

4 cylinders of fury and weight reduction! And you can run a fart pipe!

Here's the HVAC vacuum diagram. I think that vacuum line goes to either 37 or 38 in this diagram.

I agree with the sway bar off its fine, but at higher speeds 100+ hold on a little tighter...

JerzLT1
06-12-2009, 05:10 PM
I drive my 96 with no sway and with skinnies and I wouldn't say it's safe but I've done it for 2 years and am used to it. With that being said, ask jersey TA what happens when you have to swerve at high speeds with no sway bar when someone cuts you off

sweetbmxrider
06-12-2009, 05:45 PM
yeah i remember that thread, i gave him **** oh well.

i also found that its a vacuum test port, says on the diagram on the rad support.

im taking my steering box and steering linkage off, its some good weight off the nose. and when you drag race you go in a straight line anyway right?

might try to freehand an outline stripe. kinda dug into the paint when i cut the masking tape. any ideas on an outline color? i have some gloss white and gloss yellow paint, just no steady hand  maybe i should do it with tape, like good looking thin tape

transmaro93
06-21-2009, 08:17 PM
yo man you should have called me to help you.... if you used fineline tape you wouldnt have cut into the paint... go with silver or gunmetal outline IMO.... looks pretty kool though..

sweetbmxrider
06-21-2009, 09:13 PM
i know, i was really REALLY bored so i went for it. it was fun though. definitely feelin the silver/gunmetal outline. should i paint it with a brush or get some sweet thin tape and outline it?

transmaro93
06-21-2009, 10:03 PM
i dont know who makes this "sweet" tape... haha... either or... they usually brush it on... what you should have done was shoot the bottle the outline color first... then get the size of the outline tape fineline ou want.. id use 3/16... layout the flame... tape one side... spray green let it dry... tape other side... spray your black... let it dry... pull the fineline revealing your outline and clear.... bam sweet professional looking bottle... but in your case now id probably try to brush it... if u have a steady hand... and a good brush...

sweetbmxrider
06-21-2009, 10:28 PM
yeah i didn't think i was going to **** it up. your way is obviously the pro way. i guess i'll try to brush it. ugh this is going to require the patience i don't have

transmaro93
06-22-2009, 03:48 PM
you want to just sand it down and do it the correct way... it will look like a show peice.. im sayen eventually your car is going to be really nice when you get everything done you want and you might not like the shaker can results anymore... but its up to you... if you cleared it with real clear.. .you can clear it... wet sand it... and clear it again... and wetsand it again and buff it and youll never feel the lines... **** would be saaaaawweeettt

sweetbmxrider
06-22-2009, 03:57 PM
so should i rid the whole paint on it now or wet sand it and eventually buy some clear and let you pro it out? i deff need to outline it though, it will look nicer and its scratched down to the metal. i underestimate my pointer fingers strength

transmaro93
06-22-2009, 04:15 PM
honestly dude.. i mean they dont look bad... so dont think im knocken your work... cuase it looks pretty good.. but im saying... your gonna want it to look more professional later on.... i would just saand it down and restart it.... but if you didnt want to then yea you can scuff it down and then outline it and clear over it all....

sweetbmxrider
06-22-2009, 04:31 PM
well it has to be redone  i just wet sanded it to smooth it some and there must have been something on the paper or bottle or water because i barely made a couple passes and it effed up the paint. oh well eventually i'll have your pro self do it....good :) for now, its tucked away so **** it! i'm goin to give outlining a try for the hell of it.

transmaro93
06-22-2009, 05:19 PM
ight kool but lets deff do it before summer is over so we can at least have the heat of the sun help dry the paint... becuase its going to be 3 different colors... when ever your ready man.. im down.. ill even go to napa with you and help youpick the paints and ****...
