i posted this over on tech and didn't get much of a respons, i was hoping you guys would have more insight.

--i've got a 2000 formula, mostly stock. mti lid, no catback, mcleod twin. i went 13.0 at 108 with a full tank. 1.99 60' it was my first week with the car and i was launching by slipping the clutch to prevent wheelspin. tires were 275/40/17 raptors.

i just bought a 99 formula with a moser 12 bolt with 4.10s. M6 with Z06 clutch. its got full boltons. i'm just wondering how i should be launching this car? i've got a set of nitto 555r and mt et street radials, both in 275/40/17. i know i can be much more aggressive, i just don't want to ruin the clutch or break the rear(if possible)

i go to atco raceway in nj. which is normally a very well prepped track. what rpms should i be launching at? should i preload? dump, release or slip the clutch?

thanks for any advice guys

hmm ive never used a 17" drag radial, but id say with 275/40/17 ET street radials, you could probably get away with a 4500+ rpm launch, slipping it quickly. maybe even higher. just dont drag the clutch out. quick slip is all u need

Hell if you heat the mickeys well enough you can dump em....NJNetsfan broke and axel with 255/50/16's on the street a few days ago....

ur not gonna break that rear that easy, ive been 1.36 60ft and put over 400 runs on it.
with the MT dr id sat 4500-5000 rpm

thanks for the responses guys. i'm hoping to hit the track next friday. i might be picking up a set of regular et streets. 28x11.5x16 from a guy on here. will they fit a stock car?

i was thinking like 3k, lol. i'm not used to a car that can hook. my last car that i ran with slicks was a saturn. launched at 4k, and got a 1.83 60' i cant wait to feel a 1.7, maybe a 1.6.

i'll def try above 4k, and see how it goes, i just don't wanna lose the clutch.

unless your sprayin 28's are gonna kill you comin out of the gate. I would use the radials and start at around 3500 and work up from there.

I'd have to agree...unless your car is making good power and you have a steep gear to back it up your gunna dead hook and bog....

4.10s are a good gear but NA the 28's will just be too much for it. If you leave on a 150+ shot you should be able to use them but 27's would still work better.

You will need 28's with the 4.10's cause you'll simply run out of gear....I'm a bolt on car the way I sit and I see redline at the 1320 mark....
