Welcome to USAspending.gov

Where Americans Can See Where Their Money Goes

Have you ever wanted to find more information on government spending? Have you ever wondered where Federal contracting dollars and grant awards go? Or perhaps you would just like to know, as a citizen, what the Government is really doing with your money.

If you have the desire to see where your tax dollars are going, access the following website to see the spending dashboard the US Government has put together. This is part of their "better visibility" initiative, sorta like Sarbanes Oxley for the government.

No this is not a parody site. It's sad, but true.

I'm already in a bad mood, don't need to further it...some what I've already read is ridiculous....but hey...we got our hope and change didn't we?

Politicians suck.

Indeed, both right and left are out of control...it's getting ridiculous.

Wait until this new energy bill passes in the Senate....hold onto your asses....

I really don't understand the lack of long term thinking in govt. Why worry about the deficit today when you can add to it and save it for someone else?

That's the American way....why do you think your every day guy is in severe debt? That's the way our society is...it starts at the top of the government and goes down to people like you and me. We need to have everything we want, we need to have the latest and greatest of everything. I'm just as guilty as the next guy at times.

I just don't get it, Bush got blasted for his spending(and rightfully so, goes against TRUE Conservative thinking) and Obama comes in and makes Bush's spending look like child's play and people LOVE him for it. These are scary times....this country could potentially get a ton worse with the way our politicians are spending OUR money and no one seems to care.

They are going to 'give it back' in the great scam known as real estate tax rebates.

No no, only for the old and the super poor...if you're middle class or heaven for bid upper class(ya know, the people that pay MOST of the state's budget) you're being told to pound sand.

Corzine and good should never be used in the same sentence.

..and the next schmuck will come in(Christie). Every election with that state is the same thing..."We're going to end the corruption, we're going to lower taxes, we're going to cut property taxes"...riiiiiiiiiiiiight.

ONE person alone can't change that state. The corruption and their way of thinking is so ingrained in Trenton that one person can't do it alone. NJ will be the next California...they're going to go bankrupt in the next few years unless something drastically changes.

The main problem in this country is lack of social responsibility. Nobody feels they should be accountable for their own actions, especially when it comes to money. Especially the lower class and poor. Just like abortion, the bad economy is an outcome, not a problem. And throwing money at the outcome of a problem is never going to work.

I think the cutoff is $75k annual household income.

That's a little higher than I thought I read...regardless that's not a lot of money for an annual household income for people to be homeowners. $75K isn't enough to be a comfortably living homeowner in NJ.

They should double that figure to make it a little more fair.

Last year it was $150k, and the year before that it was $250k (If I remember the article in the paper correctly).

While deployed I worked on cameras with a contractor from Northrup, granted the guy knew all there was to know about electronics but pulling in 220k after all said and done for 1 year... A lady working with KBR sitting behind a computer desk monitoring soldiers computer and phone times made 140k, my favorite was this guy who had 2 third country nationals (TCN's) who basically, checked your fluids, lights and mileage while he was sitting in a chair watching the TCN's do their thing raking in an astounding 180k/y..... Forget blackwater or now called XE as their squad leader makes more than our 4 Star General.... Spree spending is too much out of control, where most of our money isn't delegated properly and falls through cracks, our prosecution system is wayyyy out of control and government sit at desk jobs are ridiculous and my favorite are the American practicing Indian doctors who finish med school in India spending about 1/20th the cost of what it takes to get that kind of education here. We will never pay these debts and when asked for compensation we'll just shake the stick at em' and say get lost... I really have no ambition on seeing WW3, but the way things are now.....

I just say we adopt the fair tax act. Then there is no income caps, etc
