just a quick question, i noticed the other day that my 94z auto will let me shift out of the park position with no key in the ignition, but if i put the key in and turn it to "acc" i have to put my foot of the brake to shift from park. I only noticed this the other day randomly and i nvr tried it b4. Chevy dealer says its soppossed to do that, i find that hard to beleve, just wondering if its soppossed to be that way? trans was rebuilt last summer and works fine so i doubt im gonna mess with it eitherway, im just curious

if the ignition is in the lock position, the shifter should not come out of park no matter what.

if the ignition is in acc position, the shifter should come out of park when pressing the button down.

if the ignition is in run position, the shifter should come out of park with the brake pedal and shifter button depressed.

that clarify it for you?

Nothing to do with the trans its most likely the lock actuator in the shifter assembly under the console or the lock for the shifter that's in the column.

I think theres a button that allows you to do that next to the shifter in case of emergencys
