Wouldn't you know.....

2:45 AM.

Pat got pulled over again. Right on the border of Pennsylvania. He gave the cop his PBA card, and the cop said he pulled him over for speeding, but asked him to get out of the car. The cop started asking Pat how he knew the officer on the card, questioned how long he had it for, yadda yadda. Then the magic words "Have you had anything to drink tonight?"

Pat said no. (*Homer* DOH!)

He had actually had a few beers over the course of the night.

As for me I had one drink, and 2 shots (kamikaze, washington apple) over the course of the night. But otherwise I mostly drank coka cola. I sat in the car shaking my head, thinking, "oh god, you idiot. we're in PA." I hear Pat mention to the cop, pointing to me in the car, "She drank coke all night as a matter of fact."

I was fuming because he just lied for me, and well, if the cop were to ask me personally, i would have told him I had a drink. Which would then make Pat look like more of a bad liar than he already did.

The cop gave Pat several chances to tell the truth. Then he takes out the breathilizer, and says "Well let's go ahead and see if you've been telling me the truth." He blew a .045. And then Pat tried to cover his ass by saying he had wine with dinner, and the cop goes "Well I asked you if you had anything to drink tonight" and Pat goes "I wasn't thinking about dinner time, I didn't have anything to drink tonight, but I mean, earlier in the evening I had wine"

Cop starts shaking his head and goes "That's not possible. That's not possible to blow a .045 at 2:45 in the morning if you had a glass of wine with dinner, man!"

He told Pat to get back into his car and wait there.

Cop came back with Pat's credentials and told him to drive safe, but took his PBA card of course. No ticket.

Lucky sumbish.

I've never been in a situation where someone I was with, nor myself, had to take a breathilizer.

In his case, do you think it would have been better for him to say he had a drink that night? I really thought he was screwed. I would have told the truth.

Would have been better off saying he had a drink...

Yet, if you say a couple, normally means like ten to a LEO.

yeah the truth would have been best there. he probably could smell the beer on his breath. if he told the truth, probably would have done the abc's and counted backwards then most likely went on his merry way. its just dumb to lie, you are making the cop's job that much harder and pissing him/her off which just isn't going to work in your favor.

your right, its HALF THE LEGAL LIMIT. next time your on 195 do 32.5 mph. they were within their rights to be on the road. and laws and morals are two completely different things so lets not turn the thread into something it doesn't need to be.

you should always tell the cop up front if you had something to drink it just makes life easier and chances are he would not have taken the PBA card if he had done that.
ABC's backwards and touching your nose is alot better then the Breathalyzer.

No, I think techinically they are supposed to take it. Generally, if the officer who supplied the PBA card is still in the force, they give the card back to officer who supplied it, and then let them know what happened when they pulled the cardholder over.

I used a PBA card from Vito, and when Vito had given the card to me, he told me to contact him as soon as possible to let him know ahead of time that they took it. I think sometimes they might even wag fingers at the cops who gave them out.

But if a cop is nice he'll let you keep it. And some of them, like the "Golden PBA card" do not expire, and are to be kept solely by the cardholder.

they're both decisions that people make.
Racing on a road where its just you and the person you're racing is one thing. You both know the risks and accept them.

Driving drunk is just ****ing stupid. You put the lives of the people in your car and anybody around in danger.

BigAls87Z28

How about we dont?
Everyone of us breaks the law at least one point in our lives, year, months, days, and even hours.

The point is that he wasnt drunk, but he did have a few to drink. He didnt hit the legal limit, so he shouldnt have gotten a ticket.
Having met Pat, he is a pretty level headed guy, and I think he knows when he can drive, or when he should ride shotgun.

BigAls87Z28
07-17-2009, 01:58 AM
Anything can be dangerious. Driving on the road is dangerious, with or without drinks or any other influences on the driver. Hell, more people probably get into accidents because they are upset or stressed.

and just because your racing on an "abandoned industrial road" doesn't make it any less dangerous

PBodyGT87
07-17-2009, 08:56 AM
I knew someone once who was driving on a very open back country road out in Colorado. No trees or anything around, maybe a few abandoned homes. He was driving very "Sprited" and then began coming up a hill, which had a rather "fun" steep drop. And just as he was hitting 100, on the other side of the hill two little kids were drawing with chalk in the road. They moved out of the way just in time while he tried his best to stop, and barely missed them. He never sped again after that. You see the problem with abandoned roads is that, well, EVERYONE expects them to be empty.

Just because you think it's an abandoned road doesn't mean there's not a deer, or a kid, or another car stopped. You just don't know. And I would NEVER wish on ANYONE to hit something in their car on the way home "to teach them a lesson" because that's not only morbid, it's just not me and it's not a noble thing to say. So unlike Nasty wishing that on Pat, I'll wish that Nasty doesn't harm himself, his car, or anyone else around him, because he's not immune to danger either. And as Al said, everyone on the road is in danger, for various reasons.
