If the ipod is set to auto sync, you may be screwed.

Best bet would be to set iTunes to not sync and hope for the best.

Yes you can. There is a way to do it with iTunes, however it far easier to do it with 3rd party software.

Ive had to do it when you plug in your i-pod makeshure you do not let it sync!!!!!!! Go to my computer select the i-pod and use it like an external hard drive every thing you click on will automatically be put back into your i-tunes, its alittle time consuming but better than burning all those disks and going to all your friends and taking there stuff again.

there is a way to do it..but you would have had to have backed up all the files themselves on your ipod...if not i dont think it can do it.

But hes talking about having lost all his files on his computer, so there are no backups. I think apple was smart enough to know that if they let people download songs from ipods to computers people can give there songs to anybody. I know you can't with the older ipods but idk about the new ones. My sister works for apple ill ask her about it.

What he said I did it this way when I upgraded from XP to windows 7 it worked like a charm.

Just talked to my sister whos a manager at the apple store at the GSP, she said that if you bought any of the music you can email itunes and they'll give them to you, if you used limewire or something you can't get them back. She said you can google and get a 3rd party like truchevy said and try it that way

Not a Techi, but why don't you go to the "Genius Bar" at any location and have them take care of it. If they can't help you out. You can at least vent on them regarding the "Genius Bar".
