On the border gto car show

Hey just wanted to see if anyone else had a chance to go to the on the border car show on route 1 this past sunday. Alot of fun and tons of nice gto and chargers with a few camaro including a new ss.

Was a great day all the way up until the trophy ceremony that led to an eventual smashing of one of them. What I cant understand at these car shows is someones ego always has to get in the way. It is now up on youtube for everyone to watch only a couple of losers to help ruin things.

a guy gave out a "dishrag award" to someone that wasnt there to defend himself (apparently the guy that gave it out was a big dbag)...so then some people stood up for the guy that wasnt there which led to an argument and the smashing of the dishrag trophy...the guy that organized the show is really a class act, busts his ass for the area gto's (big guy in the blue shirt)

no accidents/burnouts/trouble on rt 1

and the car i detailed won best in class 8-)

I had a really good time at the show and with it being only 10 min from my home, it was an easy trip. Lots of nice cars and a bigger mixture than last year. I didn't see the events at the end but they looked entertaining.

i feel real bad for bruce because the guy went off cursing in his face with bruce's little girls standing next to them...who ended up crying....we were sitting there like wtf his kids are right there

its one thing to stand up to someone, but to go off on a guy that wasnt even a really part of the "award" with his little kids next to him is a dbag move....but he did apologize today

Def. not going to happen unless someone was a real mental case. They had cops parked literally right at the exits onto rt 1 making sure no shenanigans occurred. I was a bit PO'd only because as I pull out onto rt 1 some d-bag in a scion TC decided to go back to the future and rip by me with the cop right there. Cop did absolutely nothing. Thanks!

I was front row for the whole argument, from what i've heard from my GTO buddies it's a lot deeper than what's shown in the video but i have no details. The cops weren't putting up with anything after someone hit a town car last year.

Ok I read it now more carefully. Was it that serious to make fools of themselves making a scene, and throw a trophy in front of all those people? I am not sure about anyone else but if someone is embarrassing me in front of my child your going to end up on the floor period... Its a shame to end a nice show like that. I think bruce did a great job, and the rest of the crew organizing it did a great job too. Glad to see some really nice Fbodies including Blackbirds Ta conv. Always looking sharp. Good show all around.

as I understand it they did it to the wrong person.. 2nd they threw the trophy where it could have hit someone which it almost did! It may look funny by the pics. But a little girl was scared out of her wits to start crying Not cool, A good guy getting reemed in front of all those people and his kids Not cool. I wasnt there but from the info given no matter what the cause was for yes they did make fools of themselves. And people are always going to remember those actions. I am all for backing up a friend but to me that went way to far!! Thats just me everyone is entitled to there thoughts. Hopefully lessons learned from both sides. What in the world is a Dish Rag award anyways? Is it a joke trophy of some sort?

it goes a lot deeper than it looks from what isee on the site, this was like a "last straw" type of thing, they apoligized to bruce (guy who set up the event and does a great job there) and he apoligized for letting it happen...the guy who did the award and the guy in purple who called the girl a skank had no problem talking even more crap, and actually the guy in the purple shirt called the girl a b**** on the forums.

btw the guy in the purple shirt also used to drive a green lt1 camaro with fender stripes and now owns a purple gto

and from what ive seen, stay away from nj gto group meets/events....The guy that started all this crapactually formed that group and broke away from g.o.n.e. a awhile ago, g.o.n.e. were the ones have the event

Its something that Danny (the guy who was giving out the award in the video) came up with about a year ago, basically an a-hole award. It was a joke on the GTO forums, but there's a ton of tension between the Kaltech/Rocksand Racing and Cartek guys on the forum so it turned into drama.

Nothing wrong with a little competition, and nothing wrong with a little prank. It brings fun to this hobby. But I guess people are taking it way to serious. Cant we all just get along!!! lol. Oh well on to the next show.. Looking forward to finally attending this years East Coast Nationals. Havent been able to get there yet!!! See you there everyone!!

I used to go to a car show at Crispin Square in Marlton sponsored by the local GTO club. You'd pull up and a man would give you an entry form and tell you where to park. You fill out the form and leave it under your windshield wiper and a "judge" would collect it. At the end of the show they gave out trophies. At least 2 gto's would win and one or two other cars would get a trophy or award except the Camaros. Why you ask? Because at every show they didn't collect the registration cards from the Camaros. This happened at every show. Stopped going after awhile not because I didn't win a trophy or award but because of the attitude of the judges and the guys in the gto club. Totally stuck up Holier than thou attitude. One night they awarded a best of show to a gto in their club rather than a Model T, a Vega Coswerth, or a Ferrari 599. The gto was average.

Nobody posted pictures of their cars at the show, what they may have won, how was the judging and how many Firebirds or Camaros showed up. I was sorry to hear that it was NOT posted because of a club meet on the same day, but what about the people that could or would not go to the club meet, but might have gone to this all GM car show. I would have and so would my son have been there, so I hope the next one is posted somewhere so we can all see the crazy **** that seems to go on in this show! :shock:
