RALEIGH, N.C. – At least one sheriff's deputy in North Carolina won't have any trouble catching speeders. Multiple media outlets reported Wednesday that the Wake County Sheriff's Department has a Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Chevrolet said the car has a top track speed of 198 mph, with a base sticker price of $74,875. Its V8 racing engine generates 505 horsepower.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Phyllis Stevens said the car didn't cost the county any money since it was seized from a drug dealer.

Wake County isn't the first to used souped up cars.

Former Davidson County Sheriff Gerald Hege once had a Chevrolet Impala SS with a Corvette engine

Former Forsyth County Sheriff Ron Barker used several Camaro Z28s for traffic enforcement.

but yet your making the assumptions that he didnt swap out his ss for a ls motor or maybe ditched the iron headed/torque cam/2 bolt main lt1 out of the ss and tossed in an aluminum headed 4 bolt main motor.

Impala SS, with an original Impala engine...better than this guy's corvette engine.

The big "selling" point was that the 94-96 Impala SS had a "Corvette Engine".

Odd part is, the 350 made its debut with the 1967 Camaro SS.

I only drive cars with Corvette engines, or Corvette-esque engines.

I absolutely did. I made this thread because it pisses me off when people say they have a "corvette" engine, amongst other things...Then I posted a picture of my Dad's Impala just because it's way badder then this sheriff's impala.

I think you missed the "OR" in his statement. Everyone knows that God blessed the "ls" engine with 6-bolt mains.
