I got a new laptop today, and it does not have a port for my soundcard, and I was wondering if there is any way to get a toslink hookup without one?

Your laptop doesn't have an internal sound card that's decent enough?

It has a stereo out put yes, but I am used to using my optical line into my receiver.

Yes, that is what I am using now, stereo though.
My receiver is a nice one, so I like to make use of it.

Sound cards ftw.
Granted most of my music is not 5.1, but my receiver can do the faux 5.1
I will start reading my owners manual and see what I can do.

Ok, so I can get an adapter to go from a express card to pcmcia slot, or just buy a new sound card made for an express card slot.
Thoughts? They are roughly the same price.

Decided it was cheaper to pick up a USB sound card.
