He usually just checks his nuts.

okay well it still runs but after a 5 minute drive it was down almost a gallon of coolant and the oil is way overfull and milky. yayyyyyy head gaskets

whos got an LS1/T56 they wanna sell?

Replace head gaskets and larger pulley, cheaper than LS1 swap no?

GP99GT

rings are worn out....theres been a ton of blowby since i got it back. like, smoking from the breathers at idle type of blowby.

maybe not going with an LS1, but it definitely needs a new motor/rebuilt.

I thought mustang motors were built for boost from the factory?

GP99GT
08-11-2009, 12:16 PM
forged pistons from the factory, yes...rings that last forever, not quite

Bahaha I was being sarcastic, every single mustang guy explains to me that their motors are built for boost... silly Ford guys..

Factory forged pistons are really nice. Did your LT1 have them?

Nope, good ole cast hypereutectic pistons. But I also didn't throw a blower on it. Yet.

My next door neighbor has a wagon with a EFI 5.0 in it - same setup as in the mustang. It was his DD until early this year when the brake lines rotted and he decided it ain't worth the effort. Starts & runs. I bet he'd part with it for a few hundred bucks if you want to come get it and rebuild that one. I can ask if you want.

GP99GT
08-11-2009, 05:05 PM
460??

eh thats a little more work...351 is almost a direct drop in. if i go 351 ill probably sell the blower and stay all motor...possibly 393/408 stroker...

Yeah it is alot of work but my cousins 460 notch is pretty wicked why not keep the blower with the 351??

GP99GT
08-11-2009, 05:19 PM
blown 351 = many broken transmissions and axles...not to mention my entire rear suspension is stock

im also debating selling the car...or parting it out and selling as a roller.....who knows
