View Full Version : TPI Injector Wiring - OK to Hide Behind Runners?

Gonna swap on my new billet valve covers today, and was looking at the injector harnesses. Is it OK to hide them behind the runners, or will they get too hot?
TIA guys!

i know you can tuck the injector harness on lt1's behind the fuel rails. i would personally try to insulate them with shrink wrap or something just for peace of mind.

Good call. Matter of fact, I remember doing that with my old '96 Impala SS back in the day. IIRC, I still have some black split-loom tubing in the garage; I'll re-wrap them and tuck 'em in between the runners and fuel rails. Thanks!!

no problem, its a very nice touch :)

Well, it turns out, I couldn't hide them; there wasn't enough room to squeeze the injector clips between the fuel rail and the fat SLP runners. But, I did re-loom them and hide them down below, between the valve cover and runner. Looks much better!

ahh very nice. can you safely move the throttle cable inbetween the runner and rail?
just a suggestion, grab some spark plug wire loom separator guys and make those red wires straight and purdy :D
love a clean engine bay though and yours is very nice. nothing too crazy going on, just clean.

Yeah, I like just a clean, uncluttered engine bay - black engine, black wire loom, black hoses, etc. and just a few detail pieces to pop. Kinda stock, but kinda not.
I'm not sure on the angle of the throttle cable if it'll bind when I pass it through there, but next time it's outta the garage I'll have a look - cool idea! And thanks for the suggestion on the looms - I had some of the factory plastic separators there, but they melted. :( I need to find some high-temp ones by Made-For-You or something.

ahhh that sucks. melting ftl. i was going to suggest looking at the OTVC looms we lt1ers use, but your valve covers are too nice! you could give these a go:

they seem pretty nice and survive life atop lt1 valve covers. not sure of your wire size though, they offer 7-8mm and 10.5mm

Yep, those were the ones I was thinking of! My wires are 8mm so they should work just fine. Once I go back to work in September and have income again I'll have to buy some. I like being a teacher and having the summer off, but no paychecks for 2 months is definitely FTL. :)
