He may have died from strep throat complications. Saw this while perusing google news and had to double check that in these times Mozart's death is that high of importance...

I think it's a big deal because he was only 35 when he died, and relatively healthy before then. Given the amount of music he wrote before his death (nearly 700 pieces, including operas, concertos, etc.), if he had lived longer, there's no telling what other great music he could have written.
