I was given concert tickets for The Gaslight Anthem for my birthday. They're playing at Terminal 5. As I have avoided going to NYC unless it was for yankee games, I'm new to this. Driving is out of the question, so public transportation is what I'm looking at. Plan is to leave from the train station at Rutgers, to Penn Station, then subway it the rest of the way. (Venue is at w56st and 11th ave)
Question is, how do I get to Penn station? Any other ways to get to the city?

You take the train to penn station.

go to the station. buy a ticket to penn station. get out of penn station...look at the subway map, buy a metro card and get on the corresponding subway car to get where you need to.

nyc is easy to navigate. dont be scared

youll be surprised how easy it is, i'm gussing the rutgers stop is new brunswick on the princeton line rail? if so, youll either go to newark pen and transfer to another train going to ny pen, but most likely theres one on that line (never been on tht line myself) that will go direct to ny pen.

Go here for the rail map:

Go here to get scheduals for the trains so you know when to get on it at rutgers and when youll get to pen.

From there, use the subway map to figure out which subway to take. best thing about the city is that even if you get on the wrong subway itll atleast get you close haha and then just hail a cab!

i always take the NB train to NY..it goes right to penn station. the subway is a little tricky at first but if you have a map you are good.

driving into the city is insane i went the other night and parked for a little over an hour and it set me back 28 bucks.

Trains ftw.

Just make sure you get off at New york penn, not newark penn. ;)
