ill make this short, so im supposed to be graduating this semester, problem is i cant get into one more class i need... its a general course so its not really something ill ever use and/or need in real life... i wrote the professor of the class that would best fit into my schedule for a POI, he said the school is no longer allowing it due to the states budget cuts for public schools... i write the dean of general studies asking if he can make an exception for me, nope, he said its out of his discretion... wrote my preceptor he said i should do an independent study, but on the schools website it says the school usually doesnt approve of IS's for GIS courses, ive been battling with this all summer and with the semester starting on wed. i might be ****ed... Im tired of this ****in school, i served on my schools class council, student senate, greek council, and am an upstanding EC member for my fraternity so ive given more back to stockton than 99.9% of students...so what im asking is, would writing the president of the school directly be disrespectful to him or any other faculty? I just want a stupid ****in peice of paper

Write the President directly. It's not disrespectful at all. From what you have described you have gone through the entire chain of command in the school. What's the worst that could happen he/she says no?
Make sure when your writing the president, that you mention the other administrators which you've written to.
Interesting.... funny it's a GIS course, thats what I do for a living :) what are you going to school for?

Is the class just not offered or is it just full?
Who is above dean of general studies?
Through all those activities haven't you met a prof or someone that can help champion your cause? Someone to go to?

every GIS class offered this semester is full
the EC and BOT are the only 2 above deans
nope, my only help so far has been my preceptor, but he runs a full time accounting business on top of teaching so its just as hard to see him
Ok now I am really confused... why in the world they need you to do a GIS course? That relates nothing to what you are going to school for nor would you ever use/need it.
Unless their term GIS stands for something that is not Geographic Information System?

hows this sound boys?
Dear President Saatkamp:
My name is Squirrel and I am a senior accounting student with 124 credits. I planned on graduating in the fall, but recently my vision of doing so has been deterred due to a scheduling conflict. I currently have a sixteen credit semester planned for the fall, my classes are scheduled to complete the fulfillment of my graduation requirements, besides one. The problem that is holding me back is I am in need of a GIS course to graduate, but as of today there are none open. Now, over the summer I have been corresponding with a couple professors, namely Dr. Kubricki. His Justice, Virtue, and Moral philosophy class would fit perfect into my schedule as I am a commuter and therefore would be extremely convenient. I wrote him asking about possibly granting me a Permission of Instructor but he responded with “Professors are no longer allowed to add students to their classes. There is a college policy which goes through the Deans.” So in receiving that I wrote Dean Colijn since he has been most helpful in the past. His reply mentioned that permitting me into a class is ‘above his discretion’. Therefore, I am writing you, and I hope by reading this letter I am not insulting you or any member of the faculty. But at this point I have a feeling I may be out of viable options and may be possibly not graduating in the fall. Is there any solution to this problem that will assist me in my quest for graduation this upcoming semester?
Sincerely,
Squirrel

these high ranking college people BLOW... my gf has such problems alllllll the time, dept heads telling her they dont have time to talk, telling her they have more important things to do and so forth... she is a 2nd year masters student and they just sent her a letter saying welcome to the masters program at FDU, the orientation is JULY 29th! lol the college world is such BS! all for a stupid piece of paper that costs thousands of dollars...
anyway sounds like you're on the right track, a few of my friends had been allowd to graduate on time with the stipulation that they had to make up that last class the following semester, which u may end up having to do

Squirrel, any chance you can take the same course at a different school and transfer it and have it count?
If you are going to the send a letter, you might need to change it a bit to sound a bit more professional (the content is fine, I think, but the grammar can be improved).
Hope you can get it worked out.

only other school around here is ACCC and they dont have any 3000+ level GIS courses, and stockton doesnt allow transfers over 80 anyway
yeah i just threw it together real quick, and thats why i do numbers :)

Are you sure you can't take a class once you have over 80 credits, or you can't transfer more than 80 credits in. And if it were one night a week, why not trying Rowan or Rutgers Camden. Wouldn't be too far if it meant you get your requirements in.

Dear President Saatkamp:
My name is Squirrel and I am a senior at Stockton, majoring in accounting. I currently have 124 credits completed, and anticipate to graduate at the end of this semester. However, a scheduling conflict has arisen which may affect my graduation. My schedule this semester should consist of 16 credits, but I am unable to schedule one class (full course number of the course) because it is full. This is a course that I am required to take to fulfill degree requirements. The professors I have asked for assistance during the summer months have stated that they are unable to allow me into the class, including Dr. Kubricki. His Justice, Virtue, and Moral philosophy class (full course number and section) would fit perfectly into my schedule. However, Dr. Kubriki stated that professors are no longer able to grant a student into a full class, and it must go through the Dean. I contacted Dean Colijin for assistance, who stated that permitting me into this class was above his discretion.
Therefore, I am writing you for assistance. I would like to be able to graduate at the end of this semester, but need this last class in order to do so. Is there any solution to this problem without having to take this last class in the Spring, delaying my graduation?
Please contact me with any questions. My phone number is XXXXXXXX. I can also be reached via e-mail, at xxxxxx@xxxxx.com. Thank you in advance for your assistance with this matter.
Sincerely,
Squirrel
Anyone else have any changes I didn't see?

I'd write to the president. If I can remember correctly I *IMMEDIATELY* wrote to the president after I went outside and found Stockton's snow plow crew decided to put all of the parking lot's snow on MY car.
The issue was resolved within hours and I had people almost right away at my car digging it out by hand and shovel.
