Figured it was a nice day, so I hitched up the boat and went out to go do some fishing...

:-x
Long story short, I was enjoying my car after washing it, and had just gotten gas... cruising down Rt 36 and it dies. Manage to get into a turning lane and a cop who was directing traffic comes over and asks if I need help. He gets a patrol car to push me into a nearby lot and I get lucky in knowing someone who had one of those trailers. Spent 4hours struggling to get the car high enough and far enough onto the damn trailer... **** low cars.

And of course, first time ever driving with a trailer... fun times. LOL But made it home.. I am done with it for today.. maybe drop the tank tmmr...
But fuuuck what a lousy start to teh weekend.

Pump does not prime or anything. So safe to say its not getting pressure.

duuude.... i bought the same pump as you... WTF!... keep us posted on what the outcome is... hopfully just a loose wire or somthing... check the fuses/relays.... maybe the pump is pulling to much power and blew the fuse... you have the hotwire kit hooked up?
LTb1ow
09-05-2009, 04:17 PM
Nope. No hotwire kit. Pump was plugged in via harness provided. So no rigged connections there.

09-05-2009, 04:24 PM
so does that mean group purchase ftl?
LTb1ow
09-05-2009, 04:26 PM
This means fuel pump install round two. Which is very much ftl.
Or I just park it till Xmas, and go back to my drunken coma at school. Hmn... LOL

LTb1ow
09-05-2009, 04:38 PM
Well that may be so, but my pump is dead in the fuel...
transmaro93
09-05-2009, 05:30 PM
did you check fuses/relays... i cant see the pump dying like that being its a plug and play install.... unless its just a defective peice... but what are the odds of that...

i love having problems! yeah this stinks
LTb1ow
09-05-2009, 05:46 PM

transmaro93
09-05-2009, 05:59 PM

LTb1ow
09-05-2009, 06:04 PM

09-05-2009, 06:10 PM
just read my haynes manual.. says theres a fuel pump fuse in the passenger compartment fuse block(93-95).... and underhoood fuse block for 96 and later.... your car is a 95 right so it should be in the passenger compartment...
LTb1ow
09-05-2009, 06:11 PM
Ok, will go check that.
I am not going to be happy if its something that stupid.
LTb1ow
09-05-2009, 06:22 PM
Not sure where you found that tid bit, but there is nothing labeled fuel pump ... and I can't find what your referencing in my chilton book.
transmaro93
09-05-2009, 06:41 PM
your car is 95 right...?? haynes is saying there is a fuel pump fuse...
LTb1ow
09-05-2009, 06:43 PM
Aha well where?
Looked and there is nada labeled fuel pump.... so I pulled most of em, and found nothing blown... I will check for voltage at the tank tmmr too dark at the moment.
transmaro93
09-05-2009, 06:46 PM
yea if you cant find it then maybe its not there... but haynes says it is haha.... test light FTW!... can you get to the connector without dropping the tank?
LTb1ow
09-05-2009, 06:47 PM
Yup, its on the bulkhead back there.
transmaro93
09-05-2009, 06:52 PM
just reading the wiring diagram they give for your car its saying its fuse #5 labeled PCM IGN its a 15A fuse... that must be the one that controls that.... go look for that in there...
transmaro93
09-05-2009, 06:54 PM
looks like all that fuse is hooked too is the fuel pump and your brake lights switch...
LTb1ow
09-05-2009, 06:54 PM
Fuse #5 eh, hmn ok, Ill go check.
LTb1ow
09-05-2009, 06:58 PM

hopefully theyll warranty it since its like a month old

There have been a few instances in the past month at my store about fuel pumps or certain sensors on the sending unit going bad, turns out they didn't change the wiring harness. Apparently for any of our warrenties to work for the fuel pumps, you have to change out the wiring harness, not sure why, but you might of pooped it if you kept the same harness. looks like you'll have to drop the tank and hotwire the pump to see if it runs. hopefully we didn't get a bad batch, my pump wont be going in for months, so who knows by then.
How much time have you put on that pump since install?

LTb1ow
09-05-2009, 08:50 PM
I am hoping they send me the leftover one, still waiting for a response...
And I used the stock wiring, so the pump if anything should be running at less that full load...

If you want i'll send out the new fuel pump out to you this week if you plan on dropping the tank this weekend so that way you can get it back on the road quicker.
Sorry to hear about your misfortune, I never really heard about any problems with Walboro fuel pumps, I have the same fuel pump in my GN and its been in there for 5 years now.
Just shoot me a PM with your address and I'll have Matt send it out tomorrow.

LTb1ow
09-08-2009, 03:54 PM

also if it's the fuel pump you don't have to drop the tank to gain access to the fuel pump.. do what i did and go through the top it takes about an hour to do the whole thing... then cover it with a piece of sheet metal you can get from home depot ..... i dont have the picture of the completed item but you can get the idea ... plus it does not harm anything and also you will have future access if you need to replace or upgrade later

did you check out the pictures? most shops do it this way (maybe a little neater cut but the same same way ... very easy and it does not hurt anything? just my 2cents .....

IMO cutting a trap door is half assed.
Therefore, I did it the right way and dropped the tank. And I will do that again come this weekend maybe.

i dont know of one professional shop that would opt to cutting out the trap door in the trunk floor intead of dropping the tank... unless thats what the customer said they wanted.... if you know of professional shops that would do this to somebodies car just to save some time.... report them to the B.B.B. ... thats just hack....

Hi guys I never said a shop would do that with out telling the client or per clients request .... I was just giving an alternative to dropping the tank.
my 2 cents was to save time and energy if you wanted to upgrade later or had a problem with the fuel pump on the road .. (Just think if you had a trap door you would not have had to tow your car home to drop the tank etc for a fuel pump issue... you could have went to you local parts store pick up a fuel pump and dropped it in and be on your way)
i was just expressing that it was easier to cut the top of the floor and make a trap door.. Many car comanys do that from the factory ... imo there is nothing half assed about that when you consider that they should have done that in the first place since its such a pain to drop the tank then most cars ........
