im doing alot of weight reduction and i started removing wires, so far i have removed the cigarette lighter wires, TCS, Airbag, Ebrake, seatbelt, console light, radio (passenger side only so far with the antenna) and alarm sensor thats above the passenger side rear tire. i plugged my gauge cluster back in and my oil pressure and voltmeter are bother working but no temp and no tach (dont know about speedometer because the car still has no seat in it) i traced the tach signal wire from the cluster all the way to the PCM and its still intact. also traced the grounds and theyre good as well. any ideas?

Ahhh, well PM sweettricyclerider, I know his is apart....
"temporarily" hook the alarm sensor back up and see if it does it......the bcm doesnt like it not being there....
i had to leave mine in

ill give it a shot but i dont think the BCM controls the gauges does it? btw what bulbs can i take out of the cluster without it giving me a problem? i dont want my dash to looks like a christmas tree

easiest way to figure out the bulbs is removing the cluster and shining a small led flashlight. i had a flexible head one and would remove a bulb and stick it in, see what lit up. its quite fun. i would definitely try what mike suggested, sounds very reasonable.

I'll give it a shot as soonas I get home. I know which bulb is which but would that create a problem with the cluster itselfi mean

oh oh, nah it shouldn't. i was going one by one and the only one i had an issue with was the low coolant light. aside from that it shouldn't matter.

no go on that sensor, made no difference, just found out that while cranking the Tach jumps

the person i purchase the car off of decided to splice a raptor shift light into the tach signal wire 1 inch from the PCM connector. it came apart where he used a butt connector. glad i purchased that multimeter lol
