Very interesting. I always thought those old tanks would be better in a crash. Very eye opening and shows how far we have come in 40 years.

Those big cars may "look" safe but they're not. In minor fender benders they'll hold up better but a new car(minor parking lot stuff) but in higher speed stuff the proof is in videos like that. The materials used in those older cars just don't disperse the energy like the new cars. There's A LOT of technology, science and R&D that goes into these cars. It's amazing how you can see the energy being dispersed away from the driver's cabin when those videos are shown in slow motion.

The worst thing about that generation of Impala is that it has an X-frame under it, with no side rails to support it. That's why it crumples up like a pretzel. Full perimeter-frame cars from the '60s-'90's would probably fare better.

yeah it just shows on how safety has improved and all. It is a good looking car going to waste but you never know it could have been a replica. It is sad it just got wrecked but it wasnt my car so i cant complain.
