My GF has a 2006 Corolla S.. When u hit the gas from being on the break(stopped) the car doesnt move but then kicks in a few seconda later...I noticed that the problem has gotten worse....she actually lights em up now when it does it lol. It doesnt happen everytime but very often. Anyone know what this could be...I was thinking maybe the timing belt. Kinda stumped.

kinda sounds like a tranny related issue, somethings not engaging or disengaging like it should. if it was the timing belt the car either wont run due to it being broke or run like **** from the piston damaging the valves.

Yea I know it isnt broken but i though maybe loose or the belt stretched out a bit...The car has around 100k on it.

is it throttle by wire?

does the engine rev before it goes? or just does nothing when you touch the gas, then all of a sudden revs?

wouldnt be the timing belt...it wouldnt run with a broken timing belt

Touch the gas it feels like its in neutral then a second or 2 later it revs up and goes...Not to sure about the tb....

it has a timing chain. no tsb's relating to this issue. i'd check the trans fluid. has it ever been changed? 100k is alot if its still factory fluid. definitely sounds like a trans related issue. i'd also get the trans computer scanned.

I doubt she ever had it changed, any good places around to scan the trans...Can Dennis do it at Goodyear?

he should have no problem i would imagine. give the trans fluid a peak and smell it. if its very dark, low, or smells burnt that could be your issue. is it when the car is cold, hot, or always?

You know her dipstick was hard as hell to read but it did look like it might be a little low...Ill have to ask her the other questions, she drives it everyday. I only drive it around the corner once in a blue.

yeah it definitely sounds tranny related. figured start with the basics and make sure the fluid was good and full.

Sounds like a clogged trans filter or low trans fluid, when i had my first fwd monte, had the same problem changed the filter and fluid and it corrected the problem
