Thank you to the Rutgers Parking Nazi's. Two parking tickets in two weeks, all for just going to work.

Quick question for those who have dealt with this: Since they were able to link my truck to me, I don't have to pay these tickets until I graduate, correct? And what of the chances of them towing it next time?

Don't know about your towing question but I can tell you that since it's a state school they can actually withold your state tax refunds if you have any.

Well, if they did withhold my state refund, it would take them a mighty all time to recoup the money.

One of my roommates said something about not being able to register for classes...?

Where'd you get the tickets?

Livingston.

They can withhold your transcript, not allow you to register for classes, and it can hold you up from graduating. Friend of mine senior year owned roughly $400 in tickets which he had to pay or he would not get his diploma. They probably won't tow since they know you will have to pay all of those lovely tickets they so easily hand out.

Pay it and get your parking situation straightened out. It will only get worse.

Believe me I tried to fight em too... It is just easier to suck it up and ride the bus to the other campuses like the rest of the cattle...

That's the issue. I work at night and on weekends, usually till around midnight. Dealing with the bus system, then the walk back to the apartment could take over an hour. Hell, even going to Livingston during the day takes me a solid 30-40 minutes. Plus, most of my co-workers drive, and they never have gotten a ticket yet.

Going to talk to my boss and see what he can do. Maybe get me a temporary pass, or have the tickets thrown out.

I park in lot by the Rec center. Normally work everyday except Friday and Sunday, though it does vary sometime. 8-11pm, but with clean up and how some games run late, so I'm there till about 11:30-12 on most nights.

You have my sympathy. I got two parking tickets in one week one of my last semesters there a couple of years ago. I was convinced that there was a meter maid just waiting for me at times to ticket my car no sooner I left it. Anywho, what got me was that they didn't even give me a warning for my first offense and it was like an $80 parking ticket, which pissed me off to no end. I probably shouldn't have even replied to this post as it is conjuring up bad feelings already.

But a word of advice for if you ever have classes on Cook/Douglas campus. Park in the Sears parking lot near where the school of labor and management relations building is. Plenty of spots and within walking distance to most of the C/D campus buildings. Saved me the cost of a parking permit my last year there and never a risk of getting a ticket. And there are even Rutgers buses right near the lot too.

Well, Saturdays & Sundays they're not patrolled, so you shouldn't have a problem on Saturdays.
As far as Monday through Thursday, I thought that lot was open after 5PM? If it's not, aren't there other lots on Livi that you can park at after 5?

my friends do this at kean...its a state school also so it might be the same..they dont register their cars with parking permits. so when they do get a ticket they cant trace it back to you because you never registered it

That's what I thought too. I don't know about other lots but when I lived their last year, I never saw a parking police car in the lot after 5. I guess it changed.

That was going to the plan, but they were able to use my old window sticker to track me down.

Find another lot on Livi near the gym. I'm pretty sure the one across from the student center is open after 5... check the signs.
Worst case, you can park at my place, right off Davidson Rd/Avenua E & I'll try to help you out during the week.

they tow if you have more than $300 pending. trust me

and they won't let you register for next semester with too many pending tickets, don't remember what the cut off was. my advice is to just pay them and move on. I wouldn't be surprised if i paid an extra 1000 a year in parking tickets during my tenure at rutgers. it was just a fact of life.

ps- it doesn't end at rutgers. I got a $75 parking ticket my first week at St John's!

best way to get there if there is no traffic is to just hop back onto Route 18 south, and then Route 1 South and it is the first exit.
