I was at Pontiac Day (along with firebirdcrazy) and we both had our cars in the SHOW and the RACING. First off (my son Darren was also there with his G8) we got there at 8:30 am. It took until 9:30 just to get thru tech. It seems that besides the Pontiac Day, it was also the Buick/Olds Shootout and a TEST and TUNE. We get inline at 10:00 for our 1st time shot, but due to TWO ASHOLES wetting down the track, we did not get a run in until 11:20. Back to the car show, I had a Purple custom 1985 Trans Am(in my class) with dual cards and enough GOLD in the motor to put Fort Knox to shame. I did get a 2nd place in Modified, but the plaques they gave out could have been made by Cub Scouts. My son had gone out to get another time shot, but because of MORE ASHOLES blowing up their cars and the clean-up it took, he got his 2nd run around 2:15. Somewhere around 3:30 they called our classes. I was in the 14.00+ class P4. Before we could make our 1st pass, ANOTHER BLOW-UP. It was 4:15 before we could make our run. Darren got a best time of 12.84 @ 109 mph and was pleased with his mods. I ran a 14.18 @ 97 mph. Fast forward to 6:30 because in the Test and Tune there must have been about 30 RICER IMPORTS that blew up as fast as they went. Plus there was fighting amongst them, and every body brought there family with so maybe 100+ were running wild. Sorry this story is so long, but the track official said it was the longest Test and Tune session they ever had in the history of the track. We finally got to run at 7:15 where I put away the competition to take the P4 class win and also got a $50 certificate from SLP. Finally got out of there at 8:15. One of the problems that my son had and other racers was that as it got cooler, there was a mist on the car finish which in turn made traction on the track very bad. same things happened when i went to a HPP day a few years ago. plus it rained. another reason why i hate drag racing, especially at e-town. 12hrs, and you got what, 3 runs?

Ouch. Sounds like a long day but at least you took home some prizes. Sounds like your sons car is running well with the new LT's. I need to take another trip to the track to get the times down a bit. Last time we went, it was so humid but now should be much better.

I'll be looking for a 12.6X-12.7X next time I run. Should be fun.

Yeah, he thought the colder air was a bonus and did not use the traction control. Hard to get a read on the car when you get TWO TIME shots. No problem until around 7:45 pm where the moist night air screws up the track. I have taken the safe start with my Formula and power brake at the line and let the car take off several feet before getting on it. I ran a 14.18/ 14.15/14.13 so I know it works. Darren stabbed his car off the line and had no problem until his last run when it lit the tires up. The Grand Prix GTP that I ran against in the finals also red lighted and smoked his tires because we both dialed in a 14.10 but I still would have beat him. Looking forward to ATCO on this Saturday 31st for their 11th Annual Pontiac Day. It is a judged show with racing!

Hmmm....I may need to get the G8 ready since I'm still trying to figure out my nitrous issue with the Bird.

 I know, I just despise Etown, overrated IMO. The area is nicer(seats, concession stands etc) but I'll take actual track and clientele at Atco over Etown any day of the week and twice on Sunday's

Thanks, but why don't tracks put down MORE traction compound if they know that a problem is coming in the evening due to the moist air:?:

because it would cost them $$$. all they care about is your money not you. if a few drops of rain start then they will close down but otherwise how ever it was prepped when the night started is how it stays. atco's prep is much better then e-town. i've left and gone home once there is any due on the car just to be safe. the track can turn hairy on you quick.
