it is best to pull rotor
then punch old stud out w/ hammer
install new stud from rear (tap in lightly w/hammer)
use 2 or 3 washers than the lug nut then tighten to pull stud into place (seating the stud)
then off w/ washers and back with the rotor and all.

What he said/it is sometimes easier to just pull the hub and press it out, this can even be done with a vice and socket if you don't have access to a press.

four studs is plenty, good weight reduction, make sure to break one off the other side to even the distribution

nah you want the rotor off. the stud might pull in a little crooked then you will be looking at replacing the hub. its pretty simple as s.j. described. air guns help a ton.
