ok i am thinking of getting high flow cats .. the main reason is to help with the dread smell ...from any high preformance car ... which ones do you like and where to buy them from

also did you loose any preformance when install?

I've always heard and had good experience with Magnaflow / Carsound / Catco converters. I've never seen any real CFM tests on them, but usually hear that they all flow within a reasonable amount of each other. Unless you have a real crazy setup, you aren't gonna lose more than a couple of HP.

i went with the high flow cats from slp. before the cats they tuned it and it put down 381 trq and 385 hp. after the cats were installed i had another guy tune it and it put down 387 trq and 391 horsepower. so the little bit of back pressure actually helped me. at that time

My car has a pair of 3" cats I got used off LS1Tech for $50 so search around, you might find a good deal. Pypes used to make a really small 3" cat but they don't offer that style anymore. Magnaflow has the spun metal cats which are pretty small as well. The cats definitely helped with the smell and it passes the visual inspection.

I'm not really sure what brand they are, but Magnaflow, Catco, Carsound, Walker, Dynomax are all pretty much the same. The Magnaflow metallic spun cats are different though. SLP has some 3" cats that are a little different as well.

I'm running the 3" dynotechs (Jegs).

Mufflex built it on the car, 3" y-pipe into a 4" collector then 4" all the way out the back.

cool ypipe

Had to do some odd twist and turns to get around my torque arm mount. I have a customized Spohn TA mount to work with the 4" exhaust. So the driver's side pipe has to snake it's way everything. I didn't want a 3" merge, I wanted the pipes right into the 4" system so no restrictions and that had to be set up so it was before the TA mount.

Every time I bring my car into Mufflex Dennis starts twitching because I know how I want things done so everything has to be fabricated to fit. nothing off-the-shelf will work on my car.

You should see all the tiny angles on my intercooler pipes. Dennis welded them then after he built it I ground the welds down so that when I had then Jethot coated they were all smooth.

Sounds like a bad tune. What is the info on your motor and the tune?

I had Catco's on my old 97 LT1...there were cheap and held up well. I either got them off of jegs or summit...it was years ago.

I have a Magnaflow on my Iroc (its supercharged) and have had no issues...no loss of performance that I can tell...(seat of the pants wise, anyway). Id go with them.
