Low miled LT5 & tranny...i understand there werent many Zr1's made...but think about what kind of LT/LS motor you could put together for that dough.

Reall cool motor and low miles. But I think it's worth half what he wants if not less

thats not bad price. The 95 LT5's (which are the more desired i think) go for around $20,000 to $25,000. And thats without the zf transmission.

If I had expendable income(still waiting to hit the lottery or to start my drug selling career lol), yes...I'd absolutely spend that much and swap into something for the wow factor.

the rarity, low miles, and exponential power levels would sway me.

11-15-2009, 02:41 PM
the fact that the setup can do 200 mph also makes it worth it. dont let the power fool you on that motor....that thing would swamp anything on the highway....especially in a fbody

Plus you are paying for rarity. that guy runs 10-20% high IMO anyway.

Yea because theres so many places around here you can drive 200 mph ...That dude was powershifting and only cut a 12.9.

They typically run faster than that....don't judge a car by a crap driver. By your logic your car isn't fast since you don't race yours at the track right?(not saying that to be a ass, just proving a point).

They're also not dedicated 1/4 mile cars either.

sweetbmxrider

they are very stout motors and the heads flow like a mother! very capable in the right hands no doubt

I must be missing it. My car isnt fast...never said it was, and that has nothing to do w/ if i race it or not. What crappy driver would that be the professional driver/development manager of the corvette in the video:rofl:? Maybe they should have called you to drive it.

Well that would make this a good deal then , seeing theres a tranny attached to it.

They've gone a bit faster stock(unless the videos I've seen weren't stock cars). The reason I said what I said is because you're judging the motor on a 1/4 mile time. You've done it before like the 1/4 mile time is some magical end all be all stat. The car isn't set up for the drag strip. Somehow a 12.9 makes it less of a motor or something(the reason I brought up your racing history, or lack thereof is because you seem to have an arrogance about you and track times of other cars).

I never claimed I was some great driver but I have no doubts about my ability, kthanxbye.

the zr-1 wasn't a drag car. it was a race car that set world records for track speeds.

Yea I hear ya....just thought it would have more in it 1/4 mile wise. Acceleration down low is close to the LT4..I did a quick search and the fastest time I saw was a 12.8...id still prefer a LS2/6 :) . I always preferred how fast u get there as opposed to top speed.

sweetbmxrider
11-15-2009, 05:01 PM
they were able to get close to 500 hp out of the lt5 and still have great street manners. that in a 3000lb vette = mid tens

Not a question of overall performance. It's a rare motor. Like a ZL-1, or a 302, or a Mark II big block.

exactly. The cars complete went for big money. Was this when they first started experimenting with the electronic shocks control stuff?

I like on the cars when they had the "valet" key for normal and MAX power. LOL

No, heads were designed by a lotus team, engine built by Mercury Marine, which is now owned by Brunswick, dunno if they were back then.

*ding ding ding* we have a winner.

it's like buying one of the re-cast ZL1 motors. it's not about performance, it's about popping the hood and showing it off. not everything can be judged by how well it performs. if you compare the "WOW!" factor of having that motor in your car with the balls out performance of a stock 572 big block moving a 3000 lb street car down the quarter, then they are equal.

in a case where someone asks, would you pay $xx,xxx for something, it is all subjective and based on opinion only. throwing hard facts out there is not likely to sway someone who wants to have a one of one.

Lotus and GM had a switch off, Lotus doingthat, and when Lotus designed there GT1 car, they chose to run the LT5 in it, but it wasent powerful and reliable enough to race against McLaren F1, or the Porsche GT2's, and had a lack luster performance to say the least, but it's one of the sexiest looking lotus's, and it was known for it's American deep bellow rumbling down the track, just like the Panoz GTR-1 and LMP1-R's.
