When we bought my wife's Jeep at Reedman (in PA) they put a PA temp tag on it, and mailed our NJ plates and registration to us a few weeks later. The fees were all included with the loan.

I was thinking of buying from a Pontiac dealer in PA and this is what they told me if you pay in full. You pay them in cash, check, or whatever. You pay an additional $90 for temp tags. Then you take the title to the NJDMV and pay taxes on it just like you would for any other car you buy in NJ. Keep in mind this was for like a $3000 truck.

a dealer makes most of its money charging for paperwork and document fees. it all gets ''wrapped up in the final sale''....which gives them the flexibility to lower their car down price down to almost stock price and work the rest in on the books as dealers fees....which of course they get to pocket most of

lol i went to a dealer to try to pick up a cheap beater once and they wanted 1200 for the car and in the paperwork it said 800 for the car and 400 for dealers fees.....i told em fine ill pay the 800 and bring a trailer and do the paperwork myself....they said ''no deal, for liability  purposes only they must insure and register every car before leaving the lot.

I bought my Firebird out of state (it was in PA) and the dealer handled the motor vehicle work. I got a NJ title, NJ registration, and NJ plates in the mail a week or so later. In the meanwhile, I drove around on PA temp dealer plate. All I had to do was get it inspected in NJ. They charged the usual price for title/registration/plate fees, about $150 or so.

They also delivered the car to my house on a flat bed the next day. That was about 1.5 hour drive for the flat bed.

I have bought 3 cars in PA and all 3 times I got temp tags which cost $40 and that was the only fee they charged. I than paid tax and everything once I got back here to Jersey when i went to register it. These were all used cars, but from dealers. I guess it is different where you go

When I bought my 06 goat (brand new) from PA they gave me temp tags so I could drive it home and they let me register it myself.
