Red Ring Of Death, microsoft has a 3 year warranty for that FYI so before you void it by opening it up I would call them....

before you call unplug all of your wires to the xbox including the power outlet. Then reconnect all the wires and try turning it on. In rare cases (mine) this works.

eh there are different light patterns that mean different things, this one is an internal hard drive failure or something like that. wiki has an article.

microsoft has a KB article on how to troubleshoot this and a link to do the return for repair thing. i was without an xbox for 17 days when i sent mine out for repair.
i just barely made it within the 3 year window...if i waited a few more days to fill out the form online, i would have had to foot the bill.

it's not that bad. i got a few months free of xbox live when they sent mine back. i've had red ring 2x now. it always happens but if you want to be able to play it for a few hours the towl trick does work.

... Well heres a trick to TEMPORARILY fix the problem. What your gonna have to do is wrap your xbox in a bunch of towels. Than turn it on and let it sit for a couple hours. What it does is it essientially cooks itself. And Microsoft put this great sensor in there that if the unit gets too hot it will power itself down and go into a safe mode were it resets the internal board. Therefore TEMPORARILY fixing the problem. When i did this trick it lasted 2 weeks. I heard of people doing this and it lasting a couple of months. So hey give it a try. Just remember in the end your gonna have to send it in anyway.
