I ordered a speed sensor ring for a 3 series carrier from newgmparts.com two weekends ago. They say on their website "no returns without vin number". I was ordering some interior plastic parts too, so I included the vin on the order.
I got an email saying the interior parts were not available.
I got a second email saying that the price on the sensor ring had changed and they were going to charge the higher price.
I got a third email verifying the order with the correct 3 series part number (26029185).
They sent the wrong part. They sent a 2 series carrier sensor ring.
So I called and they told me that they changed the part number based on my VIN and sent an email stating so. I told them they send no such email, and when the checked, could not find one either. I also asked why when sending 3 emails about my order, they never thought to ask if the part I ordered was the right part seeing as it didn't match my VIN? They had no answer other to say "changing parts numbers to match your vin is our policy".
I told them to send the right part and a prepaid return label. They will not pay for return shipping because they said they had no idea I wanted a 3 series part (even though I selected it specifically) because my VIN indicates a 2 series part. I told them that I selected a 3 series part, they verified via email a 3 series part, but they sent a 2 series part. A calm argument ensued. Realizing I was getting nowhere, I just said to send the right part. That was last Wednesday.
Today I call, they still have not sent the part. Something about the part has to go from the warehouse to them, then to me. So they will be sending it today.
Then they tell me that there will be a restocking fee because its my fault that I got the wrong part. So I have to pay shipping, and restocking fee. Why bother returning the part? I will anyway just to satisfy Mastercard.
Well, after I get the right part I will call Mastercard and have the payment charged back. So far Mastercard has charged back every order I ever complained about, so I don't think they will have a problem with doing the same here, especially as I have all their email as documentation that I ordered the right part.
So just beware, there are lots of GM "parts direct" type places out there, apparently newgmparts.com is not the best to deal with. At least they did not satisfy me with my order.
