i was just wondering if i will have any problems taking my car through nj state inspection if i were to throw a rough idle cam in there. or would i be better off waiting to install the cam in a few months after i get it inspected again?

IIRC, you can go 60 days before you due date.

But yes, go thru inspection first.

I wouldn't worry about it. As long as you have a tune, no codes, and at least the appearance of a working cat, why wouldn't you pass?

Don't they do the sniffer on the newer vehicles or plug into the pcm and check the O2's and what not make sure the cars not putting out to many hydrocarbons?

All OBDII 96+ cars are plug in only.....

West Deptford inspection does both on OBDII cars, i've gone with my father and his C6 and they did both.

If you bring it to a private station you should pass no problem. Some inspectors don't like how the car shakes with a cam in it.

not to hijack, but is it possible to get any type of fine going through inspection? if you went through with no cats could they do anything besides fail you?

i only ask because jerseymike stole the cats i had waiting to go on 6 months ago and he may keep "forgetting" to buy me new ones until my inspection is up

I'll ask my friend today, he went through all the inspection classes a few weeks ago.

Eric if you want when the times comes I have a family member that does inspections by the shore, he wont bust balls as long as the ses is tuned out.

You could probably throw those fake cat shells on and as long as everything's tuned out i don't see you having any problems.

thought about doing that, but i'd like to get rid of some rasp anyway so i'll probably just go with high flows. if it's too quiet/restrictive i'll just pick up a second Y pipe so i can switch back and forth for inspection and what not.

It'll definately quite things down..especially seeing you have a magnaflow...I wouldnt worry about restriction though..plus you'll be ok if you ever run into a mobile inspection.

I wouldn't dare take a rough idling cammed car throw NJ inspection. If your car smells, they just may slap you with a 48hr sticker.

did you go through the paramus state inspection station? i see your location is paramus. that's where i went through my first time and they didn't seem too anxious to find something wrong with my car.

Cherry Hill & Deptford inspection stations would fail you in a heart beat.
