Technically Christmas isn't officially day he was born, infact there's no official day known when he was born, the date is based off of the placement of the stars and description of the time that they believe the date is on the 25th.

They were at war at the time and were losing ground and needed a way to trick the enemy, so they sent a messenger to the other side and asked them for a day to stop fighting so that the Romans could honor their religious holiday (which didn't exist before then). The enemy agreed and there was to be no fighting on December 25th. The Romans then invaded the enemies camp that night and slaughtered them. Merry Christmas!!!

Regardless of the reason why we celebrate the 25th, It brings people together one way or another. Screw this politically correct term "Happy holidays".
