I think I almost qualify to be a mod now.

On Saturday i picked up a 1994 Grand Cherokee Laredo. Its black with gray lower trim and a gray/brownish leather interior. Motor is the 5.2l v8 and the jeep has 131,000 miles on it. Rear hatch is dented but still functional. The driver mirror is cracked, tires shot, and hazy headlights. All those issues are being addressed though.
Starts right up,runs good, steering is tight, etc.

Today i sanded the grille and painted it flat black, its becoming something i do to all my vehicles now, lol. Im also getting a set a 6" Hella driving lights for the front to assist in driving around here in upstate NY. Its also getting a aftermarket stereo so i can enjoy some good tunes when im making my way through the snow drifts up here.

Looks good, lots of luck! As long as the heat and AWD work well, it's a perfect truck for Upstate!

lol, i guess it is a berger grille now haha

yea, heat, cruise control, and awd work fine. Not bad for 1,000 bucks. plus i have a stack of receipts of work thats been done over time to it.

New tires are ordered and will be in NJ wed. I'm gonna compound and buff the headlights and see how they turn out. My friend who works at a local wrecking yard told me to check with him this week about a black hatch and mirror.

Nice...I almost bought one a few months back...they are really comfortable with leather and with the 5.2 they have a good amount of power. Just watch for that motor...the 5.2's can take a **** real quickly.

yea, i basically have access to a backup motor already, not sure if its a 5.2 or 5.9L so maybe in the spring, itll get some more power lol.

i'm pretty sure they only came with the 5.2. Btw...been thinking about getting a beater for the past few weeks and this thread has made me start looking up Grand Cherokees again.

well in 98 the grand cherokee had a "5.9 limited" edition. one bad ass jeep GC.

but anyway, i was meaning the motor i am getting, is a 5.2 or 5.9 and its out of a late 90s dodge ram im getting for parts.

Congrats on the purchase Paul! I am sure you are well aware of the issues surrounding Chrysler auto trannies, so make sure you keep up on the maintenance on that trans or you'll be benchpressing it out of there in no time for a rebuild / replacement.

Any plans for a lift, or just putting some decent tires on and keeping it for strictly a DD?

You could try Specht's Auto Recyclers over in NY - they're just over the state line from Vernon in Warwick NY. I'm pretty sure I saw a black ZJ there two weeks ago when I picked up the door for my Cherokee. Give them a call and see if they have it.
