Mechanical clutch question

Does anyone know if there is a way to keep the mechanical clutch setup in a third gen when swapping in a T56? I searched all over TGO and couldn't find an answer.

Oh and if you can, how do you do it?

In my 2nd gen I still use my stock clutch, bell and linkage. I use a mcleod adapter. Ls1 t56 trans.

What t56 do you have?


I'd think it is easy to do a hyd setup in a 3rd gen since most got that, right?

Yup. To keep mech linkage you need an LS1 trans and the McLeod setup.

Thanks guys that's exactly what I needed to know. I don't have a trans as of now but I was curious if I needed either an ls1 t56 or an lt1 t56. And I want to keep mech clutch linkage, I just like the feel and figure that there's less chance of something breaking

Yep you can swap it over to the hydualic setup quite easily. My old 89 IROC had the mech setup when I got it... (Dont ask, long story as to why it had it) after blowing up two t5's I sawpped over to a LT1 T56. It was just a matter of swapping out the pedals for the hyd. pedal setup and making the hole slightly bigger in the firewall IIRC. That was 5 years ago now I did that swap. heh.
