Eh, let him love it....1996, 'nuff said.

I love how the Eagles/Reid panicked when they got down by 2 TD's....completely abandoned the run....I'm sorry but being down by 2 TD's with that offense is nothing. If the D knows you're passing every down then you make ******* a sitting duck...the Dallas D is teeing off on them.

Yup, true. Still gotta give credit to Dallas(I think I'm going to puke  ). A lot of missed opportunities early on by the Eagles but Dallas just kept their foot to the floor.

The Eagles need to run the ball like they were...keep Westbrook and his frail body OUT of there and let McCoy and Weaver do their thing like they have in the last 6-8 games.

Finally, the misery has ended, lol. I can't wait for the Cowboys fans to come in here talking trash. Romo and the Cowboys are still nothing until they win a playoff game...then and only then will they be a contender.

I didn't have a good feeling about this game at the start...I thought that MAYBE towards the end of the 1st half the Eagles could get something going but McNab had one of his typical inaccurate days...once that happens with no running game the day is over.

I know, I love it. Proof their SB run was a fluke....overrated garbage team.

The super bowl win was two years ago. Saying that a season two years removed from a super bowl proves that it was a fluke is quite ignorant.

To prove this, lets see the roster turn-over from the super bowl win, and week 17 (today's Viking game)
(To clalify, by gone, I mean either retire, lost to free agency, or currently on IR.)
4 starters on offense from the super bowl, gone.
7 starters from the defense, gone.
Key reserves lost: 6

Now, lets compare this to the Eagles roster changes from the same period.
5 lost on offense.
6 lost on defense.

My hypothesis was wrong. Both teams have the same amount of turnover.

Which leads me to conclude that, the Eagles did better than the Giants at replacing their losses. I will say, as much as this pains me, that the eagles have a ton of playmakers, on both sides of the ball. They can be scary good sometimes. (Cowboys don't scare me as much.)

Orginal point still stands though, it is quite silly to state a late season collapse (a complete and total one at that) proves that the super bowl win two years ago was a fluke.

Not ignorant at all....they lost their only playoff game last year and had a debacle this year....maybe fluke is a harsh word...overrated might be better. They got hot at the right time 2yrs ago and sometimes that's enough to win it all.

Doubtful. The Eagles just got beat in every facet of the game today. Hopefully they get back to what got them on their 6 game roll.

That's why they don't play the games on paper. (Cliche as hell I know, but its true) They got hot at the right time. Even the biggest Giants fan (hopefully) will admit, that the team wasn't the best in the NFL throughout the entire season, just when it mattered the most.

Speaking of that playoff game last post season, as someone who watch it there, the Eagles were the better team on the field. The Giants had no game plan, no energy, and no urgency in their play.

Frosty

Yup...no energy, uch like this year....I was SHOCKED when they extended Coughlin's contract in '07...granted it seemed like it was smart since they won the SB but he's a horrible, HORRIBLE coach. It just seems like he can't get his players to play when it really counts.

I gave them a pass last year, the burris thing banged up the offense pretty good, and the team in general. This year I'm not sure why they went 2-9 down the stretch.

its clear the bengals are thowing this game so they don't have to play houston the AFC NO.2 ranked offence. they will play the jets again, from what the jets see in this fake game plan, they will feel good change nothing, while the bengals play a much different game and roll right over them. pretty good strategy if you ask me

I have extremely mixed feelings about Coughlin. He did win a super bowl, but I think I coaching style only can last a few years before the players just tune him out. I think the team is at that point. You kinda need a strong, vocal player who buys into a coach like Coughlin so the rest of the players fall in line. I don't think the Giants have that anymore. On offense, Eli just isn't that kind of guy. On defense, Tuck and Pierce just aren't that kind of person either.

Obviously I hate a deep hatred for the Giants and I'm biased but I never liked Coughlin. The guy was on the verge of being fired until the Giants caught fire midway through '07. I think he gets too much credit for a team that just happened to gel at the right time. NOW you're seeing what happens when the coach has to actually coach...

Agreed with Frosty. I also think that Eli found a magic lamp in mid 07, and the Genie granted him one wish, and it was to swap arms with his brother. Just like that, Payton took a crap at the SAME time that Eli started throwing like a real NFL quarterback.

He is overrated. I'm not going to beat him up over this year though. Injuries killed them and a regression of some players was just too much. Losing Steve Spagnuolo, who was the heart, soul and mastermind of the defense ruined them.
I'm not going to call for his firing, like some other Giants fans I know.

Statistically speaking, this year was Eli's best year. Most year and touchdowns. Highest completion percentage, and yards per attempt. His interception percentage and yards per attempt are the same as his brother. And his yards per completion are better than his brother.
The terrible rushing game this year killed Eli. Of there top two backs, the Giants went from 1600 yards in 07, 2000 in 08, to 1500 this season. That doesn't tell you the full story though. In 07, the yards per rush combined of their top two RBs was 4.9, then 5.3 in 08, then this year 4.3. Losing almost a yard per carry killed this team.
And that's not even touching on the terrible defense.

The Giants looked like a "decent" team the first few weeks... but after the Saints spanked them for their first lost this season, they went downhill. There running game was horrible. Their passing game was mediocre at best. Might as well put Chris Snee in the RB position the way Brandon Jacobs and Bradshaw were running. They def didnt deserve playoffs this year.

Id like to see the eagles beat dallas in the playoffs :D they definately played bad tonight. sooo many stupid mistakes including that pass interference in the first quarter which i believe ultimately led to the cowboy's first TD of the game, and victory for them of course.

yeah....Jacobs was absolute trash this year....:-x

as for eli's stats being the best he has this year....its easy to build up stats when your playing from behind and have to throw it all year long.

bradshaw played well for a guy with two hurt feet and its not surprising that jacobs is going in for knee surgery soon too....he just hasnt been running hard at all.

as for this week.....like i said.....it aint the playoffs yet

How Andy Reid and McNabb are still in Phila is beyond me. If I were an Eagles fan I would be pissed they are still wasting so much time on a combination that will not win a superbowl. As for Coughlin, yeah, he's a bad coach but he has won a superbowl. As for Romo and Dallas, he needs to show he can handle the pressure which he hasn't yet so I don't see them winning the superbowl any time soon. He has some great receivers that help make him look good. But nobody looks impressive at this point in the season so the playoffs are really up for grabs. Just look how many playoff teams got shutout or their butts kicked yesterday!

I lived in Virginia Beach from 2000-early 2009 and that is Redskins country. You all are complaining about Mcnabb and Reid but the Eagles are in it pretty much every year. You know how bad it is in the DC area now? How much better can it get here with a new coach and a QB? They might be able to win a Superbowl but there is alot bigger chance that they would get worse. I lived in a area were the football team made it to the playoffs 1 time out of 10 years. Its really depressing. I remember when the Eagles sucked and would much rather be in the playoffs every year then not be in the running at all. I would much rather have people say we cant win the Superbowl then saying we cant make the playoffs.

Yes Mcnabb has weapons now but as I saw yesterday they are still very young and have alot to learn. I think there were 4 dropped passes in the 1st 2 drives!! These recievers need to learn that the offensive line is banged up and that Mcnabb has to get rid of the ball pretty fast sometimes!!

I get frustrated about not winning a superbowl but I would rather be frustrated about not winning a superbowl then not making it to the playoffs. I remember those 90's teams that didnt make it to the playoffs and hated it. Hell the Redskins are a perfect example. So before you say you want to get rid of the QB and coach 1st think how much better will it be with Kolb and a new coach? I for one think that the past 10years have been the best Eagles football we have seen in the superbowl era.

How can you call it a fluke when they knocked off a undefeated team in the superbowl? Now they are overrated because of there superbowl victory but that year they won it there defense was insane. The defense should have been the MVP not Eli.

Sorry but it's no coincidence that when the Eagles abandon the run they don't perform....evidence in the 2nd half of the Denver game and the entire Dallas game. It's the same old Reid. Running the 10 times in a game is pathetic. No disrespect to Dallas but being down 14 isn't that big of a deal, there was NO reason to nix the run...especially on a banged up O line...the Dallas D knew it was a pass play every play..it's not hard to tee off on the opposing QB.

BigAls87Z28
01-04-2010, 10:04 AM
Philly's O line was doing a pretty good job holding the pressure back for most of the game.
Maybe Ried was trying to keep Glassbrook off his back long enough to keep him fresh for the big game?

I think our Defense is the question mark. We didnt blitz Tony Homo at all the 1st 2 drives of the game. Thats what I dont get. You saw what happened to him last year. He had like what 5 turnovers the last game of last season when we Blitzed so instead of doing the same we only send in 4 rushers? Who the hell is out FS? Sean Jones!! We need a real safty.. Who the hell is afraid of catching a ball over the middle with Sean Jones there??

If the Eagles don't beat Dallas, someone else will in the playoffs. Michael Irvin did an interview with Romo earlier in the season on NFL Network and asked him, "What will it take for this team to win a Super Bowl?" Romo's answer was, "I don't know. I never won one." Is that what he tells his team mates?

Slow-V6
01-04-2010, 09:35 PM
Overall I didnt even expect the Eagles to be in the playoffs this year. After Jim Johnson's death, Bradley's injury, the Andrews sisters situation, the injuries to the o line, B West injury, LB injuries, and having a starting RB as a Rookie, a starting reciever as a rookie too. I know the whole injury situation is with every team but I dont know too many superbowl teams that won it with a Rookie RB and a Rookie Starting WR! We have weapons now but they need to mature together before we can win a Superbowl.

Frosty
01-04-2010, 10:00 PM
Losing Bradley was huge. B-West should sit the bench now, he's a distraction. They've completely gotten away from McCoy and Weaver, two players that got them there. Why play Westbrook and risk him breaking a nail or having a split end in his hair?

JL8Jeff
01-04-2010, 10:23 PM
Westbrook should not be playing the rest of this year with his head injuries. He's a great player but him playing right now is stupid. Hopefully the NFL will come up with some new injury rules about playing with head injuries. All the major sports need this and they shouldn't be delaying it. But again, nobody sticks out in either league as an obvious team to beat so this should be really interesting to watch.

Frosty
01-04-2010, 10:32 PM
Meh, regardless of the injury he just shouldn't be playing. He's disrupting the offense. They were doing just fine with McCoy and Weaver. Yeah yeah Westbrook is who he is but you play to win and you play who gives you the best chance to win...and a frail Westbrook who hasn't seen much action all year isn't your go to guy. Stick with what works. Reid better pull out all of the stops Saturday and make some MAJOR changes.
