All kinds of problems with us rolling over into 2010. Everybody thought Y2K was going to be a problem, but we're finding a lot more issues this year and part of it is because of the extended holiday weekend. Time for more coffee.

Christ man, is your company run by a bunch of idiots? It seems like every few weeks there's more BS there and more long days you're working.

HaHa, I'm not allowed to answer that. But we are severely understaffed in our department at the moment yet they can't seem to justify requesting more resources.

what do you do if you don't mind me asking?

Computer programming of all types. Lots of data formatting, SQL, Access, VB, Paradox for Windows, Paradox for DOS, C, Excel, batch files, Java, HTML, XML, VSS, and some proprietary systems. And I have no formal training in any of it, all hands on. But it's a steady job, I've been with the company 20.5 years now. If they would only listen to me when I foresee a problem or hire extra help when we need it like right now.

Do you get paid for OT? I'm salaried so I don't get paid for all the OT I put in.

Most salaried jobs have unpaid labor...

This is why i love working in a sheet metal shop, its relaxing and i get to listen to music all day. The only down side to it is that there is a giant, metal penis welded to my machine lol

My job is outside of this norm and I am fortunate to have paid OT

Yes, unpaid OT sucks. I had hundreds of extra hours in last year. But having a job is a good thing.

Kasey, there are plenty of people putting in unpaid OT because the amount of work they're assigned can't be done in a 40h/wk. Most jobs don't pay by the hour.
