My god VW owners are crazy. (http://forums.vwvortex.com/zeropost?cmd=tshow&id=4686966)
Granted, its a great looking car. Tons of custom work and all, but 85k!?

Sounds like he's overpricing the modifications he's made. As in - "I spent 20,000 on mods so I'll add 15,000 for them even though the street value is actually 7,500".

Yeah, a drivetrain loss of 33% torque is pretty rough.

Not for a AWD car with a stout drivetrain. Those cars have seen low 13s with almost no mods. Those cars can command top dollar, but people would rather see a low mileage unmodified car. This guy obviously dumped a ton of money into a car with little knowledge and is expecting his "investment" back. I read part of the thread and felt bad for the guy

Not out of the question, but rough to accept. All that $ to make power and it's pulled away.

Lol, that is crazy. This guy is gonna learn that you never get back what you put in. Return to stock if he can can and sell the parts. Even if I liked VW's, I would have a hard time justifying that purchase.

Very believable. There was one around here until it got totalled a month or so ago. Light blue R32, turbo'd, ~500whp, ran 10.7 I think in full street trim. Nice car but way overpriced.

If he didn't take that offer he's just an attention whore and is stroking his ego by posting that thread.

I have a friend at school who is a huge VW fan and all he talks about is how the R32 is the ****. VW people drool over that car.
It looks like this guy opened the hood and garden hosed the engine of his $85k car.

Yea heres the qoute from the owner about why you dont need a built motor

The only time you need a built motor is when you're tuning it yourself.
Hes not the brightest crayon in the box.:)
Funny thing is he looks not a day over 21. I wonder where he pulled up that kind of scratch.

lol 85k for a VW? the only VW i would gladly pay 85k for would be the Veron =] lol i mean yeah its fast...but for that money you could buy a camaro, drop a supercharged 572 in it and then destroy that thing at the track lol

reminds me of the guy that put 22k into his STI motor, only barely pushing 400whp, and was looking to trade with someone for a newer viper lol

He probably saves receipts. You can always tell when they save receipts. He probably added them up; came up with like $60,000; figured about $100/hr for labor, and set his price.
I love when they say "if I can't get X then I'm keeping it." Like that hurts us.
If I can't get $100,000 for my 2002 s-10, then I'm keeping it! Any offers?
